Gameplay with swarm Guardian.

Just found this vid at youtube with some actual swarm guardian gameplay.
The video quality is pretty bad and the swarm guardian can only be seen a couple of times, but since this is the first actual swarm guardian video footage that i have ever seen (been lurking around a couple of forums for updates on SC2 for some time now ) i thought i'd just post this link here so that other ppl could see some video footage of the swarm guardian.

the swarm guardian looks awesome when it moves in a wavy motion. nice one

 

They seem like a super cool unit, I hope they're balanced properly because the potential for abuse is a bit high for me right now...

 

Yeah the Swarm Guardian looks much better than that floating triangle in SC1 , with the new wavy motion and everything. I dont think u have to worry about balance, i higly doubt that blizzard would releas SC2 with any major unit balance issues.

 

Yeah not so good quality but I enjoyed it never the less, much better then the older guardian in my opinion.

 

Hmm it does look interesting, but with the quality I can't really tell if it looks any better than the original crab thingie from the original. Hopefully it looks more like the mutalisk it evolved from.

 

Interesting that I see that for the umpteenth time. And for the umpteenth time I'm going to use the banal example of caterpillars and butterflies.

I hope guardians don't look anything like mutalisks, but much more menacing and unique.

 

I agree with what you are saying, that the guardian should look menacing but I feel that you should be able to at least tell the guardian came form a mutalisk, and yeah the old guardian crab thing didn't look all that menacing to me.

 

Why? If you think about it, Banelings don't resemble Zerglings, and Lurkers don't look like Hydralisks (the Lurkers face maybe looked like that of a Hydras, but only in SC1. In SC2 The Lurker looks even more outlandish).

 

Am i the only one that likes the crab design and thinks it works for the guardian?

 

I think the swarm guardian look is so much cooler then the crab look of the guardian.

I think it's a little more realistic for a creature to look similar to what it evolved from, then again we also are playing a fantasy game so realty is way out there. That being said, I'm not going to stop around and complain if they don't because I'm in it for the game not for how good looking the creatures are.

 

It's not an evolution, it's more like a metamorphosis. Does a tadpole look that similar to a frog? Without prior knowledge, would you conclude that they are in fact the same species?

 

Hence why I brought up the Baneling, which you haven't complained about yet.

And as Overmind said, it morphs, not evolves.

Also, Larva -> Cocoon -> Butterfly. It looks different in every stage, and basically the same thing happens when the Mutalisk turns into a Swarm Guardian.

 

I guess I see what you guys are saying, and I have to say that I agree with you guys now. I just was looking at it form the wrong view.

yes it did. And kept going even after the damage!

Hence why the Ultralisk is my favorite unit.

 

Wow they really look good...this was my first video with the swarm guardian in action....I like that swervey look they have when they move.

 

Sure it was silly to think that it came from a mutalisk, but I loved the crab design of the starcraft 1 guardian.
