I have loaded and then reloaded my new starcraft II game via dvd

I am a new windows 7 - 64 bit machine I built JUST to play the new starcraft game
i have renewed and reset the ip config
and all of our other steps like registry keys
I have turned all firewalls off
and I have also specificaly added rules for ports 1119,1120 and 3724

I can always access battlenet with my user id and see my profile -

but I can still NOT start starcraft as the game does not connect

I tried to connect to the uswest and uswest.battle.net and I captured the trace routes and they are attached
    and the results
are after 14 hops I get

I had issues connecting to b.net myself tonight man. I think it was just a bad time to try it. You may have better luck tomorrow/later.

okay- no changes and now - it connected

so it MUST have been Battlenet down
    now another key question

MUST I HAVE Battlenet access to play a single player - campaign?

If Battlenet is so intemittent .....I want to still play the game

Well yeah, you have to activate your prudct key to a battle.net account play single player. You have to log into battle.net at least once even to play in "guest mode." The installer takes you to a website that will help you activate your product key.
