hehe, i figured id start out by explaining how i prevented its early rushing giving me enough time to rush the computer with 6 zealots. basically i send in a probe attack the main base and then set my probe after all the enemy drones are attacking it to fly around the map in circles carrying all the drones, the computer has no minerals therefore i win.
Yeah... people use that a lot when trying to take large numbers of computers at once. I personally call it "milking" and consider it to be mostly lame, seriously exploiting the game's crappy AI. It's funny, yes, but ...not at all satisfying. The poor comps are dumb enough as it is, give 'em a break!
The funniest moment I can remember was the Ghost trying to nuke my base next to a turret. That one worked real well...
Yes, the AI is not too good. (Even though the game rocks socks) There was a Canadian pro gamer clan... I don't remember their name. Anyway, they were playing for fun against 5 computers. They played around a lot and attacked each other, unallied, etc. Then the Red Terran computer attacked with a HUGE army which left the whole clan awestruck. It looked as if they were actually gonna lose to comps because of their hybris and unserious playing. What an embarrassment! That computer had goliaths, vultures, marines, tanks, wraiths, science vessels... You name it, he made it. And then the computer's whole army marched in towards one of the clan members base. One of the computers ghosts targeted a nuke on a pylon with 1 HP. Before the nuke arrived, the rest of the army had demolished the pylon and walked straight into the nuke. The computer blew up its own army and later on lost the game, rofl.
One time I was the computer's enemy, 1v1, and it refused to attack me. Messed up stuff. I walked right by it's Sunkens, and Lurkers with a few Marines. I would mouse over its stuff, and it was all red, like it should be.
When I was beginner in Starcraft and I still loved to mass Battecruiser to ruins my enemies. Since i was not good enough I played in FFA, vs 2 Zerg (zerg was easier to defeat for me). So I let them fight but they did not kill each other. I did not do any scouting and remained in my base walling and making BC. Once this is done I started my fleet for the destruction. When I realized that the 2 zerg computers had 9 Drones and 1 Overlord each, nothing more, sometimes they get stuck like this. I found this pretty funny, if someone was commenting my game. Holy Gee this guys is making 24 BC , he sure is scared of those Zergs!
1v7 comps in Fastest... Built Cannons at first.. Comps Kept attacking and attacking and attacking.. Almost losing but still kept at it.. Teched to reavers... Won. =)
Because the AI is lame. The weirdest thing I have experienced so far is a Zerg NPC building a lot of lurkers, sending them to my base... and never burrow them. They just kept running around between my sunkens until they were all dead. It probably exhausted the opponents resources, because he stopped sending reinforcements after a while. At that moment I started to destroy his whole base with about 5 hydralisks.
I can't remember where I seen that, but computer AI have 4 different build. Easy Normal Gather **Insane can only be set in a UMS When you start a random game computer can be: Easy, Normal, Gather For Protoss 1st attack easy = 12 zealot 1st attack normal = DT rush Gather = expands 1 time, mass cannon, 1st attack, zealot, dragoon, archon, templar, corsair (but comes very late in the game) Insane provides 500 Mineral (and 500 gas, but not sure) for computer at game start and as no food limitation (any races) For Zerg Easy = Hydra, lings, lurker Normal = 6 zergling rush Gather = 9 drones 2 overlord for the entire game. I thought that the gather AI for Zerg was merely broken, but I wonder why did Blizzard never patched it. Maybe people did not care enough. **Insane : 1st wave 12 ling, 2nd wave 12 hydra, 3rd 12 muta, 4th 12 guardian, 5th+ 3-6 ultras with shietloads of everything else every 3-5 minutes (kinda nice to practice your micro vs Zerg ^^) For Terran Easy = marines meds firebat Normal = don't know maybe m&m&fb is the normal difficulty Gather = I don't remember seen it in the past My thought: Maybe the computer always goes for M&M&FB for all difficulty (except insane) but the difficulty changes the way he techs. Can't really be sure if he techs differently depending on difficulty or on how long you leave him untouched. Anyway. Insane= ?? LT: this is my idea why Zerg is dumb sometimes, and I thought I'd post all 3 races since people might be curious about the 2 others.
it was an epic war between me and the zerg, both of us almost got wiped out, i was left with three marines, comp a few lings, last stand, i lost, only 1 zergling left, it destroyed my last depot w/c was my last building.... i was defeated by a zergling..................................................................
supposedly it is, and much so. blizzard says the ai now bases a lot of its tactics on scouting, AND will be better able to counter/micromanage. although of course in the end theyll just be a computer, and users will figure out ways to glitch them. funniest moment vs. a computer? dunno, between the non-cloaked attempted nuking by them, or the medic wall you can send in which they will attack quite literally endlessly, even while you go about destroying the rest of their base.
