So I was feeling nostalgic today (especially since I can't logon to the Starcraft II beta at the moment) and decided to install the original Starcraft on my computer. However, upon attempting to play, I noticed that some of the colors were messed up and grainy. It's worse on some screens then others, (for instance it's very noticeable on the race-selection screen but not at all during mission briefings), but it's enough to be very annoying. Does anybody have any ideas? Is my computer simply too new to run the game well???
What I do when I see funky colors, is that I minimize my game, and in windows I press WIN+M to minimize all the windows. After that I click on Broodwar and maximize that window. Usually I also CTR+ALT+DEL (in win 7) and press escape and after a few tries the colors usually restore. By the way, the colors don't screw up ingame too much. Only water etc, but the rest is solid.
Oldish, but I just saw this. http://www.starcraft2forum.org/forums/showpost.php?p=336658&postcount=26 - Fix for it.
I hope Blizzard will allow a remake of SC and Brood War, with all the authentic cinematics and unit speech (including mission briefings, ingame chat etc.) On a second thought, I hope that the USB in the Collectors Edition is not just SC1 + Brood War, but already the remake. I seriously doubt this though . Edit: It may actually not be 'that' far fetched. Add the original with the CE, and put it in the market place for those who didn't get the CE.
Having a Windows XP the colors normally screw up like so and maybe get inverted. it normally fixes it when I alt-tab out and go back into the game, it may not work the first time but does the second time, although I don't have SC2 installed yet...
