First off, we want to congratulate you for making it this far. We realize that Starcraft 2 has been a long time coming and we want to thank you for your patience. From the first release of Starcraft on April 1, 1998 until Starcraft 2's formal announcement on May 19, 2007, many of you have been waiting patiently. We're glad to say that the wait for a select few of you is over. As of 10:00 p.m. (PST) March 31, 2009, Fan Site Program sites will begin the first stage of registering for Starcraft 2 beta keys. Official registration for the Starcraft 2 beta has not yet begun, nor has a date been set, but we would like to extend an opportunity to select fansite participants to submit an application from which we will select a number of participants for the Starcraft 2 beta testing. The following fansites have been approved to participate in this first wave of early application submissions:

    StarCraft.org
    StarCraft2Forum.org
    SCLegacy.com
    StarcraftZone.com

Please submit a short application (300 words or less) telling us why you should be selected to participate in the upcoming Starcraft 2 beta. Please be aware that applications longer than 300 words will not be reviewed. One entry per person. The applications will be judged and the winners decided by the staff of the sites listed above. Applications must be received by 10:00 p.m. (PST) April 1, 2009. Entries received after this period will not be considered. You should submit your application to sc2beta@gmail.com. We look forward to reviewing your entries, and will notify receipt of your submission via e-mail. Happy Birthday, StarCraft!

Typing one up now, and I'm having such nerd excitement at possibly winning a key.

Quick question... 1.6-ish GHz.... enough for SC2?

I'm confused , do we send SC2forum the applications so you can email them off or do we send them directly to the email address?

A chance to get a beta key doing nothing but typing up < 300 words?

No BlizzCon attending or contest winning?

This is very exciting I might say. I hurried up and sent that email. It's funny how 300 words doesn't sound like a lot, but it is.

How do they know we are members of this forum? Seems odd that they would just give out an email address without much other info. Very odd that the address is a gmail account and not @blizzard.com...

    Submit before April 1st?
Is this a prank of poor taste?

Hey whether it's a joke or not I'm treating it as being serious. I'd cluck like a chicken and put it on the internet if it meant getting a beta key. I ended up putting around 110 words. I want to make sure to get the point across with out sounding demanding or redundant.

    SC2 Beta

This is awesome. Iv'e applied also. I wonder how many are allowed to go Beta from Each site? The Forum Administrators get to choose right..? How do they know who to choose and who not to choose? Kinda Confusing. Still exciting though. If I do get the Beta I will be definately testing out the Map Editor's Functions as well as playing online and giving plenty of feedback.
