What exactly didn't you get? It's been years since I saw it, but it all made sense to me at the time. Spoiler Were you just surprissed by the vampire direction it took? I think it's intentional. It's a vampire movie, back when those weren't done to death, that sneaks up on you like it does on the main charectors. The situation also drasticly changes the relationships of the main charecters, not an uncommon writing tool. Also, even though he didn't direct, Tarentino is in it. That man can do no wrong...only somewhat medicore on rare occasion. I'm looking at you Death Proof.
