I just got an ati hd 4850 and i am unable to play starcraft for more then 10 mins which is really annyoing, i have tried playing HoN and i played 2 games in a row with no problems which leads me to belive its only a problem with starcraft2. ive seen alot of people have the same problem when it comes to ATI but ive tried every fix said on many forums but no luck. Would it be wise to just forget about ati and go to nivida :/

    Thanks for any help

First question I have about your Gateway GT5662, when you swaped out the stock HD 2400XT, did you also upgrade the power supply? If so, to what power supply? The stock 300W power supply isn't enough to support the 4800 series video cards.

You are using generic audio drivers. Install the proper Realtek Audio drivers.

Past that, I can't make out the dxdiag very well... you ran 32-bit Dxdiag on your 64-bit OS, so I can't read the driver information on the rest of the devices in the system.

Install the newest nForce 430 chipset drivers. I can't really tell if they are installed already without a 64-bit Dxdiag. To run that, run dxdiag normally, but then select "run 64-bit Dxdiag" at the bottom.

I tried to find an updated BIOS for the ECS MCP61PM-GM motherboard, but it appears this is an OEM only motherboard that only Gateway provides support for. :( Someone suggested that you may need to contact Gateway support to get an updated BIOS for the machine.

I would open the BIOS options, and find the "Primary Graphics Adapter" setting and make sure its set to "PCIe." Setting this particular option has fixed many stability issues for other people.

If the modem is still in the system, I would suggest removing it all together if you don't need it.

After you install all of the drivers listed above and answered my power supply question, please post a new dxdiag but this time run it in 64-bit and let the little loading bar load all the way.
