Flickering green patches

    Greetings,

Just bought and installed SC2 and am experiencing constant screen-wide green flickering "patches".

Issue happens everywhere including loading screen, menu and cinematics.

    Rig:

    Asus striker 2 formula
    4GB ddr2 corsair dominators
    2x 8800GTX OC watercooled (SLI)
    QX6700
    W7 ultimate 64bit

Latest nvidia drivers with previous drivers un-installed/scrubbed in safe mode plus installation of new ones in safe mode as well.

Temperature is not a problem as I am monitoring it with everest via lcd. Tried the frame cap fix anyway yet still experienced the problem.

Also re-installed the game and for around 30mins the problem was solved, yet it re-appeared.

Unfortunately the green stuff doesn't appear when taking screenshots with fraps.

Please help, the problem makes the game practically unplayable.

    Attached a 64 bit DxDiag.

Disable SLI and run on one graphics card. SLI is not supported in StarCraft II. Disable PhysX as well, or assign it to the card that will NOT be rendering StarCraft II.

My buddies machine is a very similar configuration, and he had to have a BIOS update to get his RAM working right. I'll find out more in a min or so, checking DXDiag.

Remove Creative card from machine. Install card that came with motherboard that isn't a completely piece of crap. Install Creative card into dumpster where all garbage goes. Sorry to be so sardonic, but I REALLY hate Creative cards. This particular card has caused many issues for people since the drivers have NEVER passed WHQL from what I have observed. The chances of Creative releasing any kind of newer driver... let's say its more likely that the sun with fall from the sky and get stuck to the top of the Washington Monument.

You will want to go to the Asus support site, then select your motherboard by clicking "Motherboard", "Socket775","Striker II Formula" and click search. Select "Windows 7 64-bit" from the OS list. Click plus next to "utilities" and download the "ASUS Update V7.16.01" beta. This should tell you if you have any missing drivers, or require a BIOS update. I would install the BIOS update if you can. The newer BIOSs on that motherboard (I have first hand experience with it) improve RAM comparability, so that may help improve stability as well.

First of all, thanks for your help.

Next, I just managed to find the culprit - SLI Bridge.

Turned it around and the green stuff is history. No idea why turning the bridge around would create this problem.

Was quite a brain twister. SC2 in windowed + maximised didn't have the green problem, yet today I noticed that Company of heroes, DAO and Borderlands had the same problem. Darksiders and alien assult didn't - I guess it's engine related?

I have to agree with you on creative. They have been off my shopping list for a year now - Gigaworks S750 7.1 broke down a month out of warranty due to a manufacturing defect and the reply I received from them was pretty much "buzz off". No technical support of any kind was provided.

Can you recommend a Scard + exterior unit similar to the X-Fi Elite Pro? That's the one I'm using at the moment and the sound is godly.

I really cant. I've been using Realtek onboard cards (I purposely choose motherboards that have them) and use the optical out to hook it to whatever system I got.

I really wish I had some better sound recommendations, but Creative has intentionally killed the market. I wish nVidia would start making Sandstorm again. :(
