To preface this, I am not a pro, elite or any kind of really high level gamer, those guys could probably kick my *** without breaking a sweat, so could Jon for that matter. So far I have played a few games against computers which weren't much of a challenege because the only difficulty setting that exists right now is very easy. I have also played 3 "Practice" matches. All 3 were against Terran players, the best game so far was the first one. All pratice matches are played on novice maps so rushing is out of the question, so I chose to go the route of Void Rays and Warp-in while my oponent went for Ghosts and nukes. We arrived in each others bases about the same time, I warped in several Zealots with a Void Ray in support, and my oponent nuked my Nexus strait to hell. Unfortuneately for him I had enough of an economic advantage built up so I could keep a steady stream of Zealots going into his defenseless base for a little while. I first destroyed his Ghost Academies so he couldn't nuke me anymore and then proceeded to desroy his economy and the rest of his base. The other 2 games weren't even close, I just solidly beat my oponent both times. Protoss thoughts: Chrono Boost (Formerly called Time Warp) is awsome, it provides a nice edge right out of the gate in terms of economy and then keeps on giving in terms of research and production capability. Void Rays are deadly, if your oponent doesn't have a solid anti-air defence. Right now Void Rays maintain their highest energy as they change targets as long as there wasn't a big break between attacks, which means if a Void Ray is in your base it probably won't stop its highest level attack until your base is destroyed. Colossi are as powerful as they look. I have only used them once or twice so far, but they tear just about everything up, and there is nothing sweeter than watching a Colossus cook 4 Marines in one shot. Any questions or comments?
1. Going by the videos and pictures we've had trickling through over the years, was it exactly what you were expecting? 2. What has been your favourite experience so far? Be it an animation or a sound, or an ability or whatever. 3. Is there anything you dislike about the game?
1. Going by the videos and pictures we've had trickling through over the years, was it exactly what you were expecting? Honestly I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting to begin with. Right now there is just a very easy computer and others players to do anything with, so if you have access to the tech trees and stats you know as much as any of the beta testers know. Though I must say there was quite a bit of giddieness on my part when I first started it up the beta and got into my first game. 2. What has been your favourite experience so far? Be it an animation or a sound, or an ability or whatever. Probably the second game I played against a computer when I went to the top of the tech tree and used Motherships, Carriers, Archons, Colossi, and pretty much everything else against the computer. The second probably was in my third game against a live oponent when I stopped my Colossus at the perfect spot to just incinerate 4 Marines in one shot and just watching them burn. 3. Is there anything you dislike about the game? Not yet, I'll get back to you when I start getting my *** kicked by better players.
I heard people would be making some movies of their games. Will you be posting anything on you tube and linked here so we can watch?
I havn't looked yet, but what I will do is take a few screenshots at different general settings that my computer can handle and then post them here. This weekend I will look into software for recording videos, though honestly I am relatively boring to watch, if I feel that has changed I will definetly try and post some videos. I have played against the Zerg, but I havn't seen the Lurker used yet. I will post an update when I see it used or use it myslelf.
Yeah I know I am double posting take it up with a mod . Here are 3 screen shots of Marines getting fired, in the first one the graphics are on High (which is the defualt for my computer, they go to ultra), and the last 2are the same thing (in the same replay even) but with all of the graphics settings set to low (the first is before the Marine death the second is after they dissapear into clouds of smoke). Also, remember these are just jpegs so they do look more crisp in game.
So far I like this game a lot. I haven't run into any serious problems yet, and although some things could use some fixing (like the marine having the hotkey A... Why for god sakes would you do this blizzard?) and maybe having the protoss pay for their nexus ability like the terrans and zerg do for theirs. We don't get our depots and larvae for free why is it they start with this ability? Terrans need to buy the radar thingy and the zerg have to buy the queen. Protoss on the other hand start off with the nifty 30% speed increase on buildings with out any draw backs I might add.
It's actually 50% for 30 seconds, but I see your point. My guess is to differentiate the races. Though if the ability stays as is I am guessing that the percentage is going to be decreased.
along with a lot of other stuff. I wonder if they are simply keeping it out so we will go buy the actual game or what.... If that is the reason then how do they expect to balance the game if their leaving out units?
I'm gonna be making a large post tomorrow and I'm editing together a video that's gonna be hilarious. Check the page tomorrow afternoon-ish.
Don't worry about being boring. The awesomeness of the game will make up for it. lol Seriously, anything will be better than sitting here with nothing
I heard their reworking the lurker and hopefully it will return as a tier 2.5 unit (a upgrade from the hydra den like BW) I think they did a awesome job on all the sounds and graphics so far can"t wait for the release.
