Firefox has been acting very weird today. It takes forever to open it up in the first place. The speed is also a lot slower than before. I don't think the start up part is due to my computer because IE starts up fine and its speed isn't too affected either. Help?

Clear all your bookmarks and live bookmark history.

Save your bookmarks first tho, just export them to your desktop or something.

Psionicz's suggestion helped a bit. I deleted my history and it helped quite a bit. And then I just started using FF2 tweaks on it, and that helped. It's still nowhere as fast as it was, but I don't think there's any solutions yet. :p

Theres also an issue with some of the latest windows updates making the svchost.exe run at like 95% CPU, turn off your automatic updates and see what that does. Mine only goes a little slow from time to time on short intervals.

I've checked and it's not because of the CPU at all. But it got solved once I restarted the computer. No problems anymore.

Fenix, most people have ff2 (firefox 2)
and the new FF3 came out...and i guess...people says its not tweaked up yet.
Also psionics i think yoiur right about the automatic updates. Ever since i updated my comp my firefox has been running abit slower.

I'm on Vista...an it seems that if I don't restart every couple days or so I get this same problem with firefox...and basically every other program.

Its much better now after SP2.
Before SP1 XP was a regular pain in the ass and bluescreened regularly

I wish more people who complain about Vista remembered that or what was said about 98 first edition.

While it might be interesting to be on the bleeding edge of computing new software and hardware has teething issues which you need to accept the existence of.

FF3 was just released so its bound to have bugs each system is different so one piece of software might work awesome on one system and be total hell on another. Try reinstalling FF3 and if it is still buggy send a bug report stating EXACTLY when it does whatever it does and use FF2 until they iron out the bugs.

The slow start got fixed after reinstallation, but it turned out the slower connection speed was because AT&T was retarded.
