I used to play Starcraft back in the day, but I never got that heavy into it and- like most non-hardcore players- got into using cheatcodes to beat the missions. This time around, I think I am capable of handling the missions and all that without cheating and would like to get into Battle.net play sometime soon. I'm a good handful of missions into the storyline and decided to try my hand at some 1v1 and FFA against easy opponents to get started. I'd like to think that I did something right here.. this is probably one of my better replays because I tried to keep a check on everything that usually plagues me. My usual problems are: -Inactive SCVs -Inactive unit production buildings AND -A huge surplus of supplies (thousands) -Not scouting and attacking early on (turtling, basically) I tried to keep my SCVs moving and even started queuing up their commands (build supply depot, then continue mining minerals). I tried to keep the surplus of supplies down to a minimum by having multiple barracks cranking out marines and marauders. I found that spamming marines and marauders actually worked pretty well. I also attacked fairly early with my very first marines (which were slaughtered).. but at least I tried! I think some of my strategy weaknesses were: -Not scouting (I knew where the players spawned so I didn't scout) -Spamming only two types of units -Bottlenecking with my supply depots (I kept having to rush and build them with several SCVs at once instead of planning ahead). -Building placement maybe? If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could check out my replay (about 11 minutes long) and let me know what I did right and what I did wrong or what I could improve upon. Thanks! Oh and yay! I'm new here.
One thing i can tell you ( since it is my biggist issue as well ) scouting is veeeeeeeery important, i do the same thing, i figure since i know were they spawn i dont need to scout, but scouting i have found allows you to counter the build of your opponent and allows you to pretty much tell what there going to do. Thus you can build your force to directly counter their build.
