why are there no female protoss warriors in the game? they clearly exists, an example being the matriarch of the dark templars from the broodwar campaigns.

should there be female protoss warriors? feel free to suggest your ideas.

here's a vague idea: an agile female protoss warriors using a psi whip (attack would be similar to firebat - longer than melee range and light splash damage) who can jump cliffs and maybe constricts biological units. the problem is too many ground units for the protoss already.

Terrans only have the medic as well, maybe the Protoss just don't use females in war for whatever reasons.

the mothership's a female, but you only can have one =/ hmm they should make a female templar and a female dark templar. that'd make the archon theory more believable. XD and the female might have different stats, but still balanced of course.

I like the idea of a female Protoss unit as something like a Templar class support unit, with an ability to take the health of an enemy unit to heal nearby units (possibly just their shields so keep the Protoss motif), and maybe another ability that gives is an AoE that would lower affected enemies armor class by a given amount. I would think the healing ability would be expensive (150 or so) and the AC affecting ability somewhat expensive (75-100). As for it being an air unit or ground unit, i think it should be a weaker ground unit given it's powerful abilities.

Its voiceover is female-sounding, at least as close to female as you can get as Protoss.

Uh...you can have more than one.

The female are probably in the Judicator and Khali castes more than they are in the Templar caste. I am guessing that the Mothership voice is in the Judicator caste. It would sort of make sense...wouldn't it?

I suppose females should be allowed (I should say the idea should be endorsed) in the next gen starcraft game, my guess with the original would be the military male bias of the time. I like the idea of randomly spitting out male and female units from some other strategy games.

Just for laughs I imagine Protoss as an ant colony, all the protoss could be male except the queen, who also gets the best ship in the game...

For terrans, this should be pretty simple, as the story says, the fighters are mostly hardened convicts. It seems to me that the convicts should have been killed off by now and the terran civilization should be pretty well militarized.

I would suppose that the zerg queen is the only female unit in the zerg species, but what do I know about the zerg? Maybe some hot female hydralisks LOL

Razagal was the matriarch of the dark templar which means she was a female by the definition of matriarch. if she was a male it she would be a patriarch. But she's not. She's a matriarch.

Also it's definitely a woman doing the voice for the mothership. I know it sounds weird to have a female protoss warrior, but the mothership voice in the gameplay demo was female.

Eh, they have to reproduce somehow. I doubt they use binary fission.

From the fact that there are so few protoss female warriors, I assume most of them are in the Judicator or Khalai castes. Therefore there would be a higher percentage of women in those units (Arbiter or... probe[I know it's a robot]?) in the game.

It would be nice to have a famale warrior for the protoss as their numbers have fallen so drastically. I could see some of them being high templar. If there is a melee unit for women? Possibly a zealot type unit with blink?

P.S. ToonMOG: I love your Tyriel avatar.

I can't imagine a female protoss running around and yelling "My Life for Aiur". :p That's just disgusting. :p ;D
But I think females terrans are ok.

I can kinda imagine one ripping the head off of a hydralisk screaming "You're life for Auir"

As patton said, "War is not about dying for your country, it getting the other poor bastard to die for his"

    Hehe

I agree with that, but I don't think a protoss do.

Female Protoss are confirmed! The campaign character for the Protoss campaign will be a newly appointed Female Executor! True story, confirmed in the Lore Panel Discussion at Blizzard Con, I believe.

I'd like to think Starcraft could take the equality root and do up a 50:50 split when ever a unit is made, giving a female or a male. But then you think, that means that all biological units, especially Terran, would need to have two different models. Think of how foreign and complicated Starcraft 2 already looks. Think what it would be to memorize the models of one unit twice for each gender.

For simplicities sake, it is easier to simply have one cool and recognizable/rememberable model for each unit.

P.S. ProtossCommander: Your blue text makes your posts kinda hard to read.

  19. There should be no female protoss, women dont fight they cook. Starcraft is a war game where battles are waged between men, with women providing support roles like medicalcare, transportation, and of course cooking. Having half the units female and half the units male would be retarded. Real militaries dont have 50/50 sex ratio and women are not even allowed in combat roles, It can be assumed that armys in the future will be no different.

The lack of female Protoss warriors in the first Starcraft could be explained by the very conservative, old fashioned nature of the "light" Protoss. It's very possible that women were regulated to the Judicator or Khalai castes and the fighting was left to the men.

However, introducing female Protoss warriors in SC2 would make a lot of sense from a storyline perspective. Dark Templar are highly independent and individualistic. I doubt a Dark Templar woman is going to let any man tell her she can or can't fight.

The roles of women in Protoss society could be one of the many differences between the two Protoss societies, and it could easily be another cause of tension between both groups.

And Admiral Ackbar, I agree with you that the 50/50 sex ratio is not a good idea for SC2. While woman are more than capable of fighting alongside men in combat, there is a massive social stigma against women in the military that I doubt we'll throw off for centuries. The gender roles are probably even more pronounced in Terran society, which strikes me as less socially advanced as ours.

I don't agree with the rest of your post, however. In fact, it comes off as rather offensive. Women are just as capable of filling combat roles as men. Hell, while women are generally weaker than men physically (note, I said generally. I know plenty of women who could kick my ass), they do have a much higher pain tolerance.
