Pokemon silver was the very first video game I had, and I always see it as the game that brought me into the video game age. Throughout the years, Pokemon has produced many games for every Nintendo system since its creation in 1995. I also owned a red, yellow, gold, ruby, diamond, leaf green, and mystery dungeon red at one point or another. Some I gave away, and others have been lost over the years. However, my all time favorite game has been the silver/gold series because they are the only game in the series t have a rival that is really evil, and have the best music compared to its relatives.

The red/blue version were created in 1995. The graphic were great for their time on handheld systems, and they were great fun to play. However red and blue were also known for their glitches including the popular missingno glitch, mew glitch, and glitch city.

The most popular Pokemon game in the whole series has been by far the yellow version released in 1998, selling over 1 million games in its first month of release. I loved this game because it was made to follow the TV series I loved so much, your trainer sprite was Ash, Pikachu followed you around, and many characters i the show had their sprites redone in the game to make it look more like them; most noteably nurse joy. But the best part about the yellow version was that you were able to talk to Pikachu to see how much it liked you.

Shortly after yellow came the silver/gold series. This game have a major graphics upgrade and many new Pokemon to catch and train. The game was extremely popular for its music that many say hasn't been matched in any Pokemon game since. What many didn't like about it however, was the fact that the elite four was much weaker in this game than in the previous ones. The game also featured the ability to travel to different parts of the Pokemon world; both Jhoto and Kanto, something not seen again until the fire red/leaf green game. The game was also the first to release special pokeballs for different kinds of Pokemon. Crystal was an advancement to the game that featured movement in the pokemon's animation during battle.

Saphire and Ruby versions also had major graphics upgrade along with 2 brand new battle strategies; double battles and weather affects in battle. 100 more Pokemon were released into the game, including all new starters. The game also saw the addition of abilities for Pokemon. Emerald was an addition to the game, same graphics accepts both team magma and team aqua were the bad guys in the game and a raging battle happens between the 3 legendary Pokemon of old, groudon, kyogre, and raqueza.

The fire red/leaf green versions were remakes of the original games that made Pokemon so popular. The graphics were completely redone, however, the storyline and Pokemon you could find remained the same, except new moves were added that were seen in the previous games. The ability to travel to different places also resurfaced in the game, a set of 7 islands the trainer could travel after defeating the elite four.

The latest version is currently the diamond/pearl addition, located in the land of Shinno. This game included many things from the saphire and ruby series; double battle and weather changes, but made them better. Weather was now also affected by abilities, many gave the Pokemon sideeffects to it, including speed upgrades and power upgrades. Double battles were also more frequent than in the previous games. Also was the introduction to 2.5-D animation, how the landscape would stickout from its surroundings, but not in full 3-D like view.

Over all, no one knows exactly what will be in store for us when a new set of Pokemon games is released in the future.

I picked red/blue/green because I love playing with Missingno. haha. I simply play my blue version now to mess around since I have 151 and beat everything. I don't really mind if it gets screwed up

Diamond was my second favorite game because with the new eevee forms, it was now possible to create a powerful eevee evolution team.

With the addition of glaceon and leafeon, the grand total of 7 eevee forms. Now creating an eevee team was reasonable. My team was extremely powerful. All lvl 89 and the pokemon I used were jolteon, vaporeon, flareon, espeon, glaceon, and leafeon.

I think ruby was better also. The crystal's main rise to fame was that it was the first pokemon game to have animated pokemon movement beofre a battle began, which was the reason my sister liked it so much and still has it. However, besides that and the new storyline for finding suicoon, the game was the exact same as silver/gold and, in my opinion, wasn't worth spending 30-40 more dollars to buy the game again.

I've had hacked version of sapphire at some point in which you could catch ALL pokemon for the first three series. also the ones that evolve from trading did it normally by leveling up in that ver. That was the best one ;)

I've stopped playing at Gold version. After they got more than 250 dudes, it just got stupid. It is the same thing over and over again.

Besides, why are you discussing Pokemon in a SC2 forum, do you still play?

I still play ocasionally. I haven't played in a few months though. Anyway, whats wrong with talking about PKMN? It's in the other games section and is one of the most popular games in history.

Yeah, I was just going to use the Game Boy series games and see how things were, and if it was really popular. If it was, then I would make a poll with all games on it. From what it looks according to wikipedia, there's a ton of games out there to choose from.

Never said there was anything wrong with it.

It is just that the game is... old, lol. Besides, I played it when I was 9-12 years old, so it is a little weird to have that brought up here.

Not that it is wrong or stupid or anything.

I played the cards when I was younger, but they got old, I think, but the regular games never got old for me.

Depends on what you mean by old, there's 4th series on the DS now.
And there are already few topics on older games here
