If having a pc built how should I go with the cooling system? An oversized fan or liquid? What are the pro's/Cons?
Oversized fan... uh.. no real pro's anymore since most of them are about as much as an entirely level water cooler. Water cooled will be much quieter, and keep your hardware much cooler. Depending on how much of the hardware you plan on having water cooled (Kingston just released some water cooled RAM), it may not be worth doing. I personally would have my motherboard, GPU, and CPU all water cooled. Also, some higher end motherboards like those from Asus come with water blocks already on the motherboard... It cuts down on noise, keeps parts cooler... Maintenance is where water blocks can cause you problems. You can't just fill them with ordinary water, just like your car "radiator coolent" is what you got to keep in it otherwise stuff rust. Fans are much easier to blow dust out of, but if something goes wrong with the water cooling system, your computer is sitting in water, and its most likely toast. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. You also need to think about the room temperature. If your in a nice air conditioned room that averages about 70F, then fans might not be so bad. If your in a hot room and your going to be running a lot of high end PC equipment, you might want to look at a water cooler system that actually "cools the water."
Air Pros: easier set-up, low maintenance, relatively inexpensive Water Pros: better cooling Cons: relatively difficult set-up, high maintenance Both solutions can be quiet. It's just a matter of selecting quiet parts (fans, pumps, etc). If you don't feel like changing coolant every few months, just stick to a decent air cooler such as the Prolimatech Megahalem or Noctua NH-D14.
There are new watercooling units out now that have had pretty good reviews. all in 1 systems not much bigger than any regular cpu cooler with an extra fan system.
