Joe Siegler: It is not a marketing thing. It is true. I have nothing further to say at this time.

So 3D Realms is bankrupt. Consequenses:
    - They are closing, duh.
    - Duke Nukem Forever: see you never
    - NO PREY 2!! ****!
    - Duke Nukem Trilogy for PSP will still be released.

And why is this so certain? Well, Take-Two has stated to put no more money into these projects. Twelve years of waiting was enough. I guess we can add another major company to the financial crisis death list. What do you guys think?

    Lol, of course not.
Duke Nukem Forever has been in alpha for twelve years. Starcraft 2 only for 10... At least that is how long we have been expecting that the sequal could come at any moment. ;)
At least the beta is close now. :D

    No.

This is just ridiculous... Duke Nukem Forever is now the biggest failure ever.
If they would have had time to release it, some of 3D-Realms' honor would have been restored, even if the game wouldn't have been that epic.

I knew this would happen to Duke Nukem Forever. 12 years ago we got to see gameplay and it looked finished, a few years later it changed to just a cinematic, then a few years later just a picture. It has to be the only game that has started from almost complete to slowly being nothing.

Considering Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for 13 years and was first scheduled to be released in 1998, I don't blame them and it is about time. They should have scrapped it 8 years ago.

They did scrap it ages ago. It just was revived all the time. I find it strange that EA never even tried to take over. They do that pretty often with dying or small companies. Not that I'm such a big fan of how to work, but that at least gives doomed games a chance to be released anyway.

i do not have much knowledge about this company, but does anyone else have the rights to duke nukem?

if no one does, there is a chance someone will at least buy the rights and make another game

"Publisher Take-Two Interactive, in response, stated that they still hold the publishing rights for Duke Nukem Forever, but they stated they were not funding the game."

    From wiki though

I guess take-two owns the rights now. Little chance that they will pump even more money into this. You know, 12 years of developing and the stock prices plummeting, not a good mix. I will look up some more info on this later.

Or the new Halo series. Any who.. I've always been a fan of Duke Nukem and I loved the game Prey its sad to see this company turn out like this. Maybe they can try and make it more of a free lance development. See about getting some donations maybe?

Asking for donations is a bad idea at the moment. Seeing that millions already have been wasted and all that.

Anyway, this just makes me feel sad:
Seriously. Remember that they worked together each day, for twelve years, some of them even longer. Now they all lost their jobs, and get laughed and ridiculed by lots of people. It was not their fault that they got so little support for DNF, look how great Prey turned out.

I watched that yesterday on Gametrailers.

I'm telling you right now, I would've played the **** out of it.

I was on 4chan and some guy made up a theory that the gameplay was leaked on purpose, and everyone's tails are being pulled.

    Dunno.
