Seeing how WC3 really exploited this evolving buildings concept (zerg style: hatchery > lair > hive) and now that we know about the Gateway being able to be "reconfigured" (thats the word Blizzard use) into a warp gate.. ...

Do you think Blizzard will use this concept a lot in Starcraft 2?
Do you think Terrans will have reconfigurable buildings?
Do you think Protoss will have more reconfigurable buildings?
Do you think it's a good thing that non-zerg have this kind of feature?

I'm not sure what to think about this.. I might be possible that they use this concept a lot just like they did with WC3.
I'm not sure if I like that non-zerg races have this too.. I don't want the races to have all the same tech trees..

I think WC3 races have too much similar tech trees..

Well, they all have it already I think. Zerg with the hatcheries, toss with the gatewat, and terran with the comsat station ;p

Well, I suppost there is still a LOT more room for development in this area. I'd like to see it happen, but not go too far... I mean, toss without any building upgrades were great I thought. This gateway addon function could easily have been made into a seperate "warp" building on it's own. Maybe it's to reduce 'clutter' that they make it an upgrade.

I think Starport should be a floating unit.

How about if Terran SCVs can build like an elevated platform that acts like a cliff?

Hmm the comsat station isn't really what I was refering to... it's an add-on

I don't think the Warpgate could be a building itself.. because it spawns the gateway's unit anywhere you want..

I wonder if the 3 races will have this kind of building.. I liked it when it was "zerg only" because their buildings are organic..

Yeah... Starport should be like a very huge ship.. that moves really really slowly and that can't attack.. basicly.. you should be able to move it while its building units..

it would balance the new protoss warpgate concept..

the articificial cliffs are a good idea.. It would be nice if you could build on them.. like.. you would build a bunker..

hmm about the bunkers.. do you think there are still in the game?

I don't want any other races to have this ability. Blizz said that they want to make the races as different as possible, so giving them all the same tiering mechanism would actually make them too similar. The Protoss work fine with the "many buildings" tiering thingy, the Terrans work well with their addon tiering thingy, the Zerg should work just as well with their evolving building thingy.

Wait a minute JBL! Ugh you nimrod >.<

Warcraft 3 did not exploit SC for it's evolving concept. It had those concepts from Wc1 and Wc2 >.<

    Rightfully so ;);)

Ych9 and I have been discussing this idea extensively, and we'll probably put a thread together that deals with the new features we're seeing out of the WC3--oops, I mean SC2--development team.

I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't thing "ooh they're copying the Zerg" when I first found out about the Warp Gate. I think changing buildings is a good thing, so long as they don't make a tier-like system for all of the command center buildings (like they did with WC3 and the Zerg). The Terran Command Center has two forms to change into, so that is different at least.
