    why do the marines use guns?(i know but im making a point) shouldn't their be atleast one unit that usse's lasers on the terrans? like a long range "energy shooter"? or a weapon platform like a robot that does?
    thoughts?

    most terran air power uses lasers (bc, wraiths)
    also the ghost used a laser to aim nukes :p

    as for marines ild rather fire 1k bullets /s on a bunch of zerg coming into my direction than firing 1 laser -_-;

    i think SC would be cooler if units use very primitive weapons. it would rock the big one if marines threw sharp rocks instead of shot their lame guns. I mean, come on people! 8)

    Because gauss rifles that they have shoot at hypersonic speeds (5 times the speed of sound I think)
    And that is very fast.

    Some units do but anyway it's the Protoss who are the lazer, etc. faction.

    in the wallpaper with the nuke, the marines ahve a purple trail after they shoot, and purple smoke coming out of the barrel.

    What I wondered is how come Marines don't use assault rifles. I've also wondered why marines don't have certain tools they can use built into their suits, since in this day and age we have stuff like Land Warrior

    Gauss rifles are so much better than assault rifles. We will probably have them in the next few decades.

    Guys, they are only hmmm what 50 - 75 years ahead of us. Do you think we are going to get lasers by then? I dobut we will get space ships either but who cares.

    i like the marines using gritty guass rifles but their should be a laser using unit aswell.
    as powerful as guass rifles are Lasers can cut through literrally everything.

    Maybe terran laser tech is still not good enough to compact it into a hand held form and allow it to have adequate damage and cooldown. The burst laser on the Wraith is huge and it still has a slow cooldown because it has to literally cool down so it doesn't overheat. The Marine is a better anti ground unit than the Wraith is and the wraith has a laser.

    or maybe just equipping illtrained convicts with lasers is not cost effective.

    There's actually a Starcraft Mod I downloaded and Marines shot Wraith lasers. Fun to watch but gritty old fashioned steel military suits Terran.

    Depleted uranium actually. Steel doesn't have as much density/penetrating power.

    I don't think the Marine Core would just accept illtrained peeps out of the blue. They have had to get some kind of training or they'd just be... cannon fodder. :eek:

    Multiple criminal offenses.

    Marines were cannon fodder before medics. Essential cannon fodder but fodder none the less.
