Hi guys Im new to starcraft didnt play starcraft 1 but enjoys this TONS. Currently 2v2 silver 10th and 1v1 silver 30th. I Played Terran for a while got bored switched to protos man am i glad they are so much better . Anyway i started a new little startegythis is only VS terran) When i start building my 10th probe i send 2 probes to the terran enemy. As you all know scv units have to actually build the buildings. With the 2 probes there i attack the SCV that is busy building the barracks with this their building process is slowed down (cause the scv that build the barrack is dead) and the HAVE to send 3+ SVCs to me to kill my probes which slows down economy further.i know my attention isnt all the time at my base busy building , training units etc but no worries as i already know the hot keys and do hot key my production buildings so im not neglecting this. I have only done this on 2v2 not on 1v1 yet i prefer 2v2 games more. Works sometimes. Just want to know what you more experienced people think of this? Good idea? Bad idea?Pros? Cons? Cheers
It's a good idea if you execute it well - otherwise it'll hinder you more than your opponent. But if you have high enough APM then the 2 probes can take turns to take damage from the SCVs, which I can imagine could wreak some havoc. Maybe you could also modify this tactic to only show 1 probe and build proxy with the other - usually if a player sees a scouting probe they won't look for proxies.
The same way you hotkey units: when selected, press control and a number between 0 and 9. If you want to add to the control group, press shift and the number while the unit/building that you want to add is selected. If you want to replace an existing group, right click on the control group in the centre of your display while the unit/building is selected. This last point reminds me of a question I've had for a long time now - is there any way to disable control groups being clickable?
I must say that my apm isnt that high at the moment and i tend to forget to build additional buildings but practise make perfect . the thing is protos can pop out workers much faster than other races i just thought by reducing SCV on mineral patches and by killing the one worker on the building you can slow them down and get your 1st fighting unit out faster. to again haras further.
I just found that with 2 probes you will defenitly kill the scv. 2 probes 4 hits each where with one probe its 8 hits. he can either escape or backup comes and you didnt kill him. Basically what im trying to do is to reduce his work force and pull workers from minerals. when theres too much heat pull back then go in again and kill the other scv that continues with the barracks. Because Terran always wall themselves in their building is quite a distance from the minerals which takes time where they could have gathered. but thnx so far for all your replies.
I do the same thing as zerg but if he pulls more scv's off the line i just gas steal and cancel then go back to harassing. If i 6 pool vs protoss i do the same thing but i attack the pylon and most of the time get its sheild down before my lings show up. kill the pylon and pretty much gg.
I haven’t done this type of harassment much but I’ve been watching some of the Pro's play and they do it all the time to Terran players. But they only use 1 probe.
I did this a lot but now i prefer using only 1 probe to distract him from his resourcing. I lose to much resources missing out 2 probes in the beginning. I have my fist scout in his base just before my 1st Gate has finished.. Once I've seen his base and my first zealot is out, I go for another scout and see what he's up to. It depends what his actions are, sometimes you get killed by all his probes attacking yours, sometimes you can distract him. Anyways stay close to his base and have your units go there especially Toss. You need the time to get to his base to do proper micro attacking him, best before/at the time he's building his 2nd supplydepot. If closed a few zealots are not sufficient to get into his base. Allthough my last few games I could micro my op out with 3 zealots. He went for buildings not for units. Scouting is allways key .
