DT Rush

Does anyone have a replay of a good DT rush in a regular game (think ladder)? I havn't seen anyone do a real good job with it yet...

 

You should've been at the LAN party I had with 3 buddies at the end of the school year.

It was a 4 person FFA and I was the only Protoss VS 3 Zerg. I was tucked away in the bottom left corner while everyone was top right. I hunkered down in my base and nearby expansion and started pumping out many Templar as fast as I could. Both High and Dark.

It was relatively early (they were still having Lurker and Hydralisk wars) so I didn't have to worry about air except for Overlords. Those I Psionic Stormed into oblivion while my Dark Templar tore through the ground.
I lost in the end after killing off 2 players, because the last guy got upgraded Mutalisks and I didn't get any air. By the time I had 5 or so Scouts and some Corsairs my base was near nothing. I just left.

 

Yeah I have quite a lot. I usually play protoss.
Sometimes my terran friend kills the overlords with a wraith rush and with my DT rush we eliminate the zerg instantly. Buts thats 2v2. I got 1v1 too, in lost temple.

How do I show it to you?

Going for DTs in a game against all Zerg? That sounds ballsy.
I'm pretty sure I saw a nice one in a Korean game on you tube.
Try searching for starcraft kaz. Kaz**** (I've forgotten his full name) is a very popular English speaking fellow who dubs his own commentary over starleage/msl/ect games. Only problem is that he names his videos by the league and player names so you can't search his profile for DT rush and expect to find something. Either case, his vids are a great resource for figuring out all sorts of different strats in general. Always entertaining too.

I dunno, they'd see you, but it's a one/two hit kill for any Zerg unit at that point in time.

 

Yeah but DTs are shit for hit points.
Should be plenty enough lings to take care of the situation right? Or even a few hydras+burrow?

 

Lings, no way they could kill a DT rush.

Hydra vs DT, it'd depend solely on who's better at microing.

Remember, DT's are 40 a swipe. That's insane amounts of damage.

 

Fair enough about the lings. Still the Zerg could tech to lurkers by the time the toss teched to DTs. Im just saying it really seems all or nothing based on what the Zerg has decided upon.

Edit: I guess most tech rushes are really all or nothing anyways though.

 

I love how we're not even debating DT against Terran. Forgone conclusion, if the Terrans have a Missle Turret

 

I normally get dt with against any race. I never only get dt's though, that's just dumb. If i'm up against zerg i go for the normal stargate then citadel and create like 2 corsairs and push away his overlords and take out his sunkens. You have to gaurd your dark templars though in case he just decides to come at you with everything. Using reavers works just as well though, they just take a little longer to get, which is annoying. Using dt's versus terran is not really that effective. it's hard to land them in a base let alone kill any workers. I like using corsairs vs terran though.

 

Make some dark archons, some templars, don't screw up your maestromes and storms and your good against the zergs. Send DTs to clean up the messes, they're too low hp to fight by themselves though, they're more flaking and killing the survivors than send a mass of them to attack a fortification.

yeah that single dragoon luring the zerglings away from the protoss entrance so that the first dt's could sneak out unnoticed was tactical genius

bear in mind that the zerg was also a korean pro, arguably the best zerg in his time, not just some random noob, that's what makes this so good

 

pretty neat, shame he doesn't play much anymore.

i'm pretty sure at least, havn't seen him in any of the tournaments lately.

also set up a strong d with the rest of ur mins

 

Wow man that is a really good DT rush!! , the chinese alway's have those competition's , they are good tho and there's a SCV rush , I ain't sure how that work's tho
