Ya I hope 4 is more like 1 and 2, where the maps were like puzzles with monsters in them. Personally I hate how every fps today has turned into a bland "go from point A to B while shooting people" game, we need more shooters that make you rely on more than just your aim.
I agree. Shooters need a lot more tactical and puzzle elements in them, and maybe more roleplaying elements as well. That's why sandbox games are so great. In fact, I kinda want Doom 4 to be a sandbox game.
Yeah I still can't get past the fact that, even though Doom 3 was beautiful, it was still a fps on tracks. Hopefully they can work around that in 4. MOAR BFG!? Edit With the introduction of new games and game play styles like gears of war for example (even if it was repetitive) and other such 'next-gen' FPS Doom 4 will need to rapidly evolve if it wants to compete with Crysis, GoW 2 (or 3?), or hell, even Bioshock. I am curious to see what id can cook up. Quake 5 too?
