Does the campaign affect what abilties you have on Battle.net?

For example, in the campaign, I learned "build instant supply depots". Is there a way to get this ability on the battle.net games? I'm in the practice area now and not getting to do it.

Also, how do you get SCV's to mass repair and help each other build?

I'm wondering if I needed to research these things while I was playing the campaign... and now it's too late unless I play whole campaign again?
