Personally, I'd say "No" as they have yet to really go overboard with them *except for WoW*...but depending on if they feel they can expand the universe/make more money...I say it's possible.

I really just want to see what you all think about the situation. Either or, I don't care, as long as it's not a useless expansion.

I dont really care but a second expansion of SC2 would be sweet but it depends :)

(probably one expansion of new units and buildings etc and one expansion of a new race perhaps! :O )

I'd want just one expansion to tie up any loose ends in SC2, if that were to mean the possible end of Starcraft (which I highly doubt).

I don't see an end to SC in sight, mainly because they can still go so many different directions with it. Also, that wouldn't be the best financial move :p

StarCraft players play, mostly, against other players, and (with a better editor) there will always be cool new map content anyway. Compare to WoW, where people are looking for new raids and new levels. Each expansion didn't just add new content, it added new levels and either new classes or new race/class combos.

A StarCraft II expansion would require new units to be worth it, from a gameplay point of view, and I'm not sure that Blizzard could keep adding new units to the game and yet keep it balanced.

However, there's no reason they can't keep doing new campaigns, at least until they start working on StarCraft III :)

i dont see Blizzard making more than one expansion to SC2, i understand why they have more than one for WOW, but SC2 will most likely just have one.

an expansion most be worth the effort, there must be a large amount of new skills, units etc.
not some expansion where you add very small amount of things...
so maybe they will create an expansion in a year or 2...

It is possible. But I highly doubt it.

I'm very certain that once SC2 is released, the game will be imbalanced in a way that an expansion will be released to fix upon the imbalance. They will introduce perhaps new mechanics and units to offset the imbalances.

This happened in SC and Wc3 and I'm sure it will probably happen in SC2.

Most games don't have more than one expansion (the Sims and MMOs are the exception) but it would be neat to have multiple expansions.

Even if it isn't a full expansion adding new units, a new campaign every once an a while would be nice.

It could happen, but I doubt it. Blizzard only had multiple expansions for WoW, and that was because they were adding new regions and tons of content. One of the main reasons they released BW is to balance the game as well as to extend the storyline. A second expansion, if it added units, would make the game harder to balance, and if it didn't have new units but only a campaign, it would be a bit lacking to be an expansion.

1 expansion to tie loose ends with the story and fix stuff players comment on, balance such as changing build cost should be done in patches, but adding units and expanding the campaign is for expansions.

maps, custom camapigns etc should be done in the same way as patches.

Wow, 13 "no"'s. I would have expected a yes by now. I mean, sure, we have the highest respect for Blizzard, but money is money. If you feel you can get max money with another, you will do it. I mean...they have that philosophy, otherwise they wouldn't have WoW...

    Either way, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

not really, people constantly complain about the balance especially since they tried to make it so you could have 1 expansion and not the other...

    I have the same opinion.

I think there is 98% of chance that SC2 will have one expansion, and say around 15% of chance another expansion comes later.

The first expansion will mainly bring new units, and possibly new functions in the level editing tools, while the next ones would just bring some extra multiplayers maps and campaigns.

Be in Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo, I consider the Blizzard expansions pack as totally necessary in the game: I would not be able to play Starcraft without the medic or the lurker, nor Diablo without the runes and the assassin! =)

SC was neglected for so many years coz of numerous warcraft expansions.... now that they have time, blizz only made sc2 to bring up the crappy 16-bit, non 3d figure and render it 3D

I see one expansion happening, with new units, a new single player campaign etc. The only possible way I could see a second expansion is if it was dedicated to a completely new race, with very little changes to the already existing three.

I don't see why they shouldn't. StarCraft2's going to be so ahead of its time and'll be able to do a heck of a lot more than any of their previous RTS's, including WarCraftIII, would have ever been able to do. I mean, sure, StarCraft1 and the like were all ahead of their time as well, but they were also a lot more limited. StarCraft2 isn't like this so having a second expansion could add a lot more than older expansions like BroodWar and Frozen Throne could have, and if they started work on a third, they'd basically just be reinventing a lot of what they already had. This may just be a stubborn viewpoint, as when StarCraft1 or WarCraftII or III were released people would have thought the exact same thing, but I still reckon Blizzard's past that stage.

Even if it is still pretty limiting and restrictive, there's still a lot more they can add to StarCraft2 that they wouldn't have been able to add their earlier games. Imagine how much more money another expansion after BroodWar would have made. The only problems with creating another is that there wasn't really much more to add, Mind Control, Healing and Lurker attacks basically being the extent of their ability to add new features and mechanics, but now they'd be able to add so much more. Even the stuff we've seen them cut is amazingly spectacular and could be implemented along with their new ideas and features in the future.

I'm not saying that there will be a second expansion, but if it's going to happen with any of their games, I'd say it'll happen with StarCraft2. What with the graphics, physics, cinematics and mechanics they've got at the moment, I can't see it being outdated as quickly as any of their previous games, meaning it'd be much more worthwhile to make a second expansion than to let it lie dormant until they start developing a StarCraft3 or whatnot.
