Guy blinks in 20 or so stalkers to my mineral line after i've been defending against warp prism for a bit and it takes me 30 seconds to get my seiges over there to take him out. Except during this time, he GG's. (not noticing my 12 banshees, lol)

He retreats and I micro my banshees to ignore photon cannons and take out pylons and nexus. His single pylon powering his warp gates goes down, but he rallies about 25 more stalkers, blinks into my base and wreaks havoc tearing most of it up.

He GG's AGAIN, LOL. This time he goes,

    "as i said..."
    "gg"

I'm like screw it. I don't defend my base because i've got a second one up still, I lift off my second base and move it too a corner while I use banshee's to take out all his pylons and mineral line, then come back through to destroy all his buildings.

Don't GG early if you think you are winning. It's pretentious.

I think the one who THINKS he's winning should start of with GG. There was a thread already called "early GG - how bad?" (to lazy and drunk to search right now) where someone had the following situation:

Enemy attacks, he wasn't aware of his situation in this moment and send a "GG", kept playing, realizing he has enough forces. He then won the game and his enemy (who thought he has won) went all mad and insulting.

Posting "GG" first while not being aware of your enemy's forces (when you think you're winnning) just shows how bad a player you are. No scouting, hoping he's leaving to your GG.....moron! Good you show him off and bet the **** out of him! Congratz!

I typically wait for the other person to concede that I have won.

No matter what though, I keep playing until they actually leave, just to be safe.

It helps to never give up hope either. One of my first games as Zerg, probably my fifth. It was scrap station and the enemy was protoss, I was stuck on one base for most of the game but managed to get my drone to the high yield. I was mining from that for only a minute when he demolishes my base. I keep picking off his units, i retreat with my tech still standing because they were in the far side of my base and he was to lazy to finish me, he assumed it was gg. I was about to say gg, when I decided, "Why not". I proceded to build up my hydralisk den and spire. Since I was on high yield my mineral income was above average for one base. With that help, and my micro, and a heavy slip up on his over extended collosus won me the game. I was overjoyed and we both agreed we couldn't believe it. He was polite about it and said he learned a lesson about finishing off your opponents base instead of hunting for you.

I helped keep my buildings alive with the help of hidden ovys behind my base keeping the creep up.

The winner should NOT GG. That is the job of the person who is going to surrender.

IMO the only good time to GG is when conceding defeat or destroying the opponent's very last structure on the map. Otherwise, it's just impolite.

Yeah i broke myself of this habit a while back too. I target:

Sometimes i find opponents who will drag a game out to 30-40 minutes just to spite you. Eg. they have a TON of minerals, but no defense and run a lot. Though that's not fun, it's acceptable.

it's the equivalent of saying "i win!" early. unless you're shooting down his very last building, you haven't won. you're just a noob who thinks he won.

Mind you going to surrender and actually surrendering is something else totally different. Yes the "early GG" has been well discussed in another topic. But I think the general consensus was only GG if you will surrender immediately after. If not you are leading on your opponent and is considered poor sportsmanship.

The opposite of it works wonders sometimes. Saying GG right after your opponent has damaged part of your army or killed an expansion, will make him recklessly attack you thinking that you he just got you. Been successful with that in maybe three games? The dudes always get pissed, saying BUT YOU SAID GG...F YOU NEWB! Not really viable but it will fool a few players.

A part of me wants to get mad at people when they do the early-GG-while-winning.

Then, I remember I'm 27 years old and I'm playing this game with a buncha kids.

There's just no point in letting it get to you. You'll only ruin your own sense of enjoyment if you let others get under your skin so easily. Over a computer game, of all things.

If you use "GG" to trick your opponent you are abusing the chat.

You may as well start every game with a lie such as:
"sht im drunk lol gl hf"
"I don't play this race normally"
"Hey sorry, but I'm not gonna do too well since I never try to DT rush"
    "No rush 5mins?"
"I'm going to hit em with reapers" (pretending to not understand team and gen chat.)

Win the game by playing it not by resorting to misrepresenting what you are doing via chat.

Yes, SC1/2 are psychological games. Feinting a attack or hiding tech is appropriate. Calling GG when you still intend to keep playing makes you a liar. This isn't real war were anything goes; it's a game of skill. Use skill not petty little tricks.

I haven't run into someone doing this yet; but none the less... you're a douche Prodigal. You should be under perma squelch on bnet. Sure, your deceit works, doesn't mean you are a better player or a winner.

I'll stick around after GGing sometimes. Not to **** with the guy/gal; but to talk to them. Wouldn't it be great if everyone played nice?

The battle fields of Starcraft II are a warzone. Do you think opposing armies in a real war are not deceptive to each other? Psychological manipulation is part of the foundation of warfare. "Fighting honorably" Is how the Britain's lost the revolutionary war in the States.

actually improper use of a white flag is a war crime under the geneva convention.

How about I GG whenever I want and then laugh when people on an online forum try to convince me I'm less of a man for doing so?

GGing early isn't that bad, I hate it when the other guy will tell you GL HF the most though. Uh thanks? Thanks for wishing me good luck? Yes I will have fun, but im not going to gl hf you back since I don't want to wish you any luck.

@ninja- Not less of a man, less of a player.
I don't try to convince pretty much anyone here anymore. No one ever seems to listen to anyone else's reasoning. I will however debate my point until I feel like the other person is a decent human bieng and it's silly not to agree to disagree. Or if I just get ****ing tired of it.

@Mako- Do you really believe wishing someone else luck gives them a better chance of winning? It's just a SC community formality like saying "have a nice day". No reason to not be friendly to a stranger... until they prove themselves to be an ahole or something.

Last game I played was against a Zerg. Chatted a bit during the boring build probes and first pylon/gateway part of the game. I said I had just thought I hadn't seen a Zerg player in forever and he said he hadn't seen a toss player since phase one. I called him a liar and I was on to him. He lol'ed and said he's very pro. Started with a simple "GL HF".

He early expanded and I took advantage by continually pumping out lots and building my macro. I ****ed with his econ, killed some queens. He countered by running straight at my econ with some crack lings; keeping me a bit busy and allowing him to muster a sizable force of lings and roaches.
Since I figured Zerg players (at least in copper...shame...I'm 3 in my div...) never morph their ovies and it was a fairly small map, I built some hidden DT tech during my first two assaults. When he hit me with the crackers/roaches I had 3 DT's in his main and cronoed some more DT's to take out his army that would of otherwise done at least terrible, terrible damage to my base.

He GG'd and we kept talking a bit. Seemed like a nice guy, Sooooooo; I OFC was making stalkers to deal with any potential overseers he may have tried to make after the GG. He did no such thing; but the moral is to be ready. Some people will do anything to avoid that loss... even though it's beta and your record won't last. What might last is the new friend I made that is a properly matched opponent for me. I'm sure I'll play against him many more times in the future.

One of my more entertaining battles. gl HF all. It's a game, fun should be first next to not being an asshat.
