    hey all,

    http://www.myspace.com/ruzeus

im no good at gettin the sound levels right, but what do people think?

these songs are fairly old now, i havnt been writing for quite a while since my last accoustic band broke up, but im considerin findin ways to get back into music.... and one option is goin the way of this computer made stuff

i dont just listen to drum n'bass n'all, i listen to everythin from jazz to hiphop, to black metal to well yeah just everything.

but yeah, have a listen, tell me what you think

    pretty please

    ruzeus:

The drum seems a bit too loud in the first minute or so, I also think the song starts too fast.. it would be great if it started with some piano before introducing the drum, also the melody is great but the percussions get too repetitive too fast, I would work a bit on that (I'm a percussion maniac I need supreme complexity so it's just my opinion) Hmm I think the breakdown in your track is amazing.. but at 1:50ish the drum gets very dull.. I wish there was some ambient calm breakbeat there instead, again that's a matter of taste.. I can hardly stand this drum, at 2:30 it gets better with the 2nd breakdown.. very interesting, I like the come back at 3:10ish.. with the small break before the final, good idea.

    firey with fuel:

I really love the percussion before the song starts.. very experimental.. but I don't know.. when the whole thing starts.. it gets annoying.. maybe there's too much.. I like that stuff at 1:30.. nice percussion and the lead is great as well... I think this song could have been a bit more experimental for my taste. I don't know if it's because of the quality on myspace or whatever but something doesn't sound right in this song.. I'm sure it would be better if I had a high quality mp3.. anyway.. I can feel a black metal influence in this track.. (coalescence, if you ever read this, please take note that I'm not saying that his tune is black metal, there's a black metal influence, it's not the same thing.. k?)

    war song thingy:

I can feel a strong black metal influence in this one as well.. I think it's a good idea to mix the genres like you do.. however I strongly prefered zureus over this song.. personally, I would put super synthetic breakcore breaks on that deadly piano :)

    Overall:

I didn't have the chance to hear these in full quality with monitors and all.. but I think a better use of panning would help your tracks..

I really like your creativity and your sounds (mostly the melodies, piano and all) but I feel that the structure could easily be much stronger.. just take your time to introduce your song... oh and.. I like how you do your breakdowns.. very interesting.

Do you know Traxinspace? I think it would be perfect for you, it's very easy to get super good reviews on your tracks there.. and it's very nice to give reviews on other people's stuff.. there are many dnb producers there.. It did change a lot since the last time I was very active on it.. but there's various kind of music there.. If you like experimental and ambient stuff.. I was very impressed by what you can find in Traxinspace in this genre as well..

Traxinspace.com, add me as your friend if you make a page :)

mate that was incredibly helpful i really appreciate that, i had a listen to a couple of your tracks i quite admired it and i can see how my drums might seem too repetative, i agree with ya. dont think ill be making enough alterations for you to change your mind but i completley get ya,

ive always had a real problem with getting the sound levels right, i can come up with concepts easy enough but then putting it together,.... it often gets messy

and your right... haha i do like my metal :) mind you i do listen to heaps of different music, though when it comes to writing songs on my computer i like a slight aggressiveness to it

that site you mentioned... i think ill wait a bit untill my songs arent so amaturish i think...

again JBL, thanks heaps aye im quite suprised anyone would go to the effort, im workin on the ruzeus song right now, its getting there. so far the drums has less distortion and is a bit quieter, the piano is a bit louder, and ive made a few fills and variations in some of the drums

    ill keep improving

 for an honest and supportive critique

*EDIT* hey i edited the first track a bit, tell me if its an improvement?

Well, I don't want you to sound exactly like what I would like to hear... but more like exactly like what you would like to hear from your own stuff. If I can give you ideas, then I'm happy.

no no, you should submit your stuff there now.. it's the time to get better... I've heard many, many crap there as well... if you take a look at my songs.. there's a remix of a song called a peaceful life.. if you can find the original (which was from a traxinspace member...) you'll see how horrible is.. even my version was a piece of crap by the way..

I can't right now, but I'll listen to that later today.

    thx for the power up.

Ya, Fiery with Fuel was awesome. A little repetitive at first, but that's just me.
