Well i don't think there is much discussion about the types of book ppl read in this forum (don't flame me if i'm wrong) so i decided to make a thread about this.

Personally i love fantasy and sci-fiction.
I usually read books from the Forgotten Realms (R.A Salvatore and Paul S Kemp ftw) and favorite sci-fiction series must have been the dune series (not the horrible prequels or any of the new Dune books)

Recently read Empire in Black and Gold by Adrian Tchaikovsky and it was excellent. I wonder if anyone else here read that book.

Oh lawdie Dune. The orginals written by Frank are amazing.

Forgotten Realms are pretty good, I love the War of the Spider Queen storyline (The Drizzt ones are good, but too stereotypical).

I'm a HUGE fan of Wheel of Time. I literally almost cried when I heard that RJ died.

The Belgariad is one of the first good fantasy series' I read, they're not bad at all.

    Uhhhh

As far as non series books go....
There's a great book called Idlewild, it's pretty cool.
I have a thing for Tom Clancy, not sure why, but whatev.
I'm also into those weird ass new-age-y Metaphysical books.
Quantum mechanic books are the ****.

Books are an Art! Wrong section, good topic? XD

I read some sci-fi, some fantasy. My favorite books are by far the Dune series and the Artemis Fowl series (yes, I know the maturity of the two series differ greatly :p) but I just recently got the third in the Inheritence series (Eragon series) for my birthday and I'm reading it now.

I also enjoyed The Da Vinci Code, I don't know why... also, anything about religion I find interesting, too.

ooops my bad for posting in wrong section XD
oh war of the spider queen was good until.... Phillp Athan kinda ruined that series.
Hmm i've heard about the wheel of time... is it that good? I might give that a read.

And EMR u might want to give James Rollin's books a try if u like religion or Dan Brown sort of writing. Start off with Sandstorm. He mixes science, myth and action pretty well so he's one of my favorite authors.

WoT is very good and not at the same time. Robert Jordan has (Or maybe had) a tendency to go into detail about clothing and tapestries and architecture.

    GREAT detail.

Sooo if you skip that stuff (Unless you want to know EXACTLY what shade of blue dress she was wearing), it's pretty good. Really nice characters (All forty million). Kinda generic story, but meh. It's high fantasy and there's epic moments abounding (Any one who's read it, Dumai's Wells. Oh. Hell. Yes.)

    Uhhh
The one I'd recommend starting off with is called The Dancing Wu Li Masters.

It's kinda a religious way of looking at it, but that's a very good thing. Quantum Mechanics is a very 'wut' science...If you think about some of the stuff too hard, it breaks your mind. So, this author puts it in very nice laymen's terms, as well as comparing it to religion. It's not a religious book, but we all understand mysticallity far more than advanced physics, amirite?

I'm mostly into fantasy, mystery, and quite a few of the classics. The only two sci-fi books I remember reading was 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy(epic, btw). ATM I don't have much time for reading, but I do enjoy it. Right now I'm reading More's Utopia after reading Machiavelli's The Prince. Political treatises ftw!

    (j/k they're not that great)

    @wlck, have you read Candid?

@AuirWife, Wu Li is kinda a play on words....It's a Chinese term that means 92 things. About half the meanings can be related to QP. As for the Dancing, well....You'd have to read it to get it. The author's name is Gary Zukov I think....

It's quite possible the most amusing book I've ever read. I heard they made a movie out of it.

You should definitely read the Space Odyssey sequels. They clear up a lot of the mystery in the first book and are a really fun read.

@Fenix: I didn't know they were making Candide into a movie. I never imagined it as something that could be made into a (good) movie.

They did make it, like ages ago.

@Wife4Auir, it's an absolutely hilarious satire written in like the 1400's or something. It basically follows the line of " 'good thing' happens, but then 'bad thing' happens, but luckily 'good thing' happens". It's amazingly funny, and the political ideas behind it are valid even to this day.

So I was just fighting some of these Quantum Mechanics in KoL, they're not that tough...

I hardly read at all, mostly because I'm too lazy to pick something up, not to mention *gasp* go look for some books. The only things I've read somewhat recently are Warcraft Books, currently finishing the last part in War of the Ancients trilogy.
