So I'm downloading the digital copy of Starcraft 2 on PC and I've noticed that my downloading time is a bit ridiculous. It's saying it's going to take anywhere from 14-24 hours to download. I'm at a whopping 30% right now and I've downloaded throughout the night as well as a big part of that day. My friend has downloaded it TWICE on his Mac; it's only taken him a couple of hours to download and he's on a worse internet connection than me. Is the download time different for Mac than PC? Am I doing it wrong and is this just normal? NOTE: My computer meets all the system requirements as well and I'm not running anything that would take up a lot of bandwidth.
When using the blizzard downloader, try to deactivate the Peer-To-Peer Option. This usually speeds up my downloads. Your will then only download via the blizzard Homepage. Only one connection, no uploads.
Your friend probably downloaded it faster because they had all ports and firewall settings needed. Remember, the download system Blizzard uses relies on p2p. Set the downloader as an exception in your firewall as well as your router, and forward the appropriate ports. I don't know these off the top of my head but they're easy to find on the net. Hm I didn't know your could disable p2p...
You could for the game client. However, I'm still trying to figure out how to disable it for the update patches. Bad Blizzard... If they're requiring users to be pretty much online all the time, they should at least build the necessary infrastructure to support it. I also can't think of any good reason why they couldn't provide a simple direct HTTP download for the patch.
