So I was wondering, in SC2 you will have destructible rocks (those that block entrances etc.) Seeing as how rocks can be destroyed, do you think you will also be able to give, for example, walls / buildings etc. the property of being 'destructible'? I can imagine lots of uses for this in custom maps!
Aren't buildings already destructible? Because there were no such things as destructible natural objects (like rocks in SC2) in SC1 people put neutral buildings for the same purpose. Buildings won't be used like that in SC2 because rocks will look much neater and more natural, and I'm assuming their shape and orientation will have more flexibility than racial buildings, for example being able to place every rock individually, not the whole wall as a fixed unit, allowing for better/neater/more accurate placement.

When I mentioned 'buildings' I should have been clearer. I was talking about those buildings that can be seen on the screenshots of those big cities. I was not talking about production buildings or any of that kind.
In Warcraft III, a bunch of neutral buildings were, in fact, neutral buildings, and others were destructible doodads. There's hardly any difference, but you can usually do a few more things with doodads. I can't imagine there not being destructible gates: those were great in Warcraft III, and I hope things like that appear in the installation missions. Sometimes the raiders are cautious ghosts with computer hacking skills, other times they're rough marauders who use their grenade launchers as very unsubtle "skeleton keys".
Most doodads probably will be destructible. Remember the first video we saw of SC2? In the end there exploded three nukes and the streetlight remained unharmed. Most of people probably didn't even realise it, so it didn't make it look silly, but if the lamp would have shattered wouldn't it have looked awesome? Building doodads could be destructible at least in campaign. It would be nice to destroy chokes so your Zerglings can surround the Zealots that block the road.
Hold on, are you referring to buildings or objects that function similar to Company of heroes? In COH, hiding behind a building allows a shell to be completely nullified given that it doesn't penetrate through the object. Now that's strategy.
