Like DotA? I ran into this: Demigod, under production by the same studio that made Supreme Commander: Gas powered Games. It was announced several months ago, but I hadn't caught wind of it until now. It says it is heavily inspired by Defense of the Ancients. Being a commercial game, developed by a very credible game studio, I imagine it will be pretty good. There will be two player "classes" General and Assassin. Playing as a General will make gameplay RTS-like, while playing as an Assassin will make it more RPG-like.
who doesnt like DotA, its so addictive it can even be an e-sport given a chance, the team play factor of the mini-game really standed out more than expected...
By "team play factor" you mean calling names and kicking out "noobs" ? Two classes only? Two modes that play differently sounds cool, but the RPG-like one should definately have more choices or different ways to develop your "assassin"
The details are very vague at the moment, I am pretty sure the "assassin" will be more than your typical sneak-around, stab-in-back, assassin. ...screenshots! -1up Working on finding more specific info...
the game is good, the social scene surrounding it and the people who give it a bad name aren't looks really interesting
Demigod, a RTS/RPG hybrid type of game, and inspired from Defense of the Ancients(Warcraft). Some dude from another forum recommend me to play this while wait for Starcraft 2. Do the members(you) ever play this game before? looks kinda fun for me though.
It's quite fun, though I'm not so sure if it'll last long. Also from what I hear multiplayer is handled horribly through p2p, so many people can't even play 5v5 games and overall there are problems with playing people that live far from you. I'm planning to try out all the demigods and stop there
Demigod Is Not Worth The Buy. Frankly speaking, Demigod just does not cut it. Yes, I have played it and I am disappointed at this game's mediocre attempts of rivalling or even surpassing DotA. Sure it has cool maps, better graphics, flashy hero spells and items that rival that in DotA but it lacks something that a game should never be without. Demigod has no REPLAYABILITY. I got bored of the game after 3 days. If it weren't for my friends the game would have been deleted after playing for an hour. There are many reasons why Demigod has no replayability but I will simply narrow it down to two things. The first is that it has 8 heroes. Secondly, it has striking resemblance to a game that we already hold dear to which is DotA - of course this only applies to those who have played DotA. You can find that every hero in Demigod is similar to that in DotA. In my books this game has failed the gaming community. Gas Powered Games being the creative geniuses they are should have instead steered clear of making such a game. Seriously, we should just stick to DotA. It is a great game and the creators of the game namely Guinsoo and Icefrog are doing a great job of actually listening to the player's wishes. With frequent updates from DotA this game will never run out of steam so long as people like Icefrog live on in the gaming community. Okay I can't believe I'm saying this but for those of who haven't played DotA, Demigod might actually not end up in your recycle bins. Even so, good luck with that .
I played Dota and in my opinion it sucks. I don't see how it got so popular in the first place especially since it is quite unbalanced and that were many games like it before Dota but just never became as popular but were much more balanced in my opinion. Dota has also ruined the warcraft 3 community, especially in the custom game area. Before Dota became so popular or even noticed at all there was a wide variety of original and fun custom games but now all there is, is literally dota games except for a small exception and other custom games are hardly even made or played anymore like they used to. Not to mention the player base of Dota itself, which is a very immature group of players that take the game way to seriously and are complete assholes to anyone not as "elite" as them.
