We all know UMS maps were great on both starcraft and warcraft 3. Well i was thinking if map editors could model their own units, add their own abilities and make their own skins. "Kinda like skin editing on warcraft 3" Then UMS maps on SC2 would have almost endless possibilites. ofcourse this feature would be restricted to UMS. Discuss?
I remember a game, a UMS one I talked before, "The Thing". We were 8 colored marines. But someone did a special game, always "the thing", but we were ALL black marines ! So the thing was black too.
i get the feeling that the sc2 map editor is gonna be the most powerful yet! so what you described and a lot of others things should all be possible
... Anyway hopefully it will be the most powerfull as it would be interesting to have the ability to switch unit attack roles (siege tank firing at air units or something).
The WC3 Map Editor was extremely powerful but still had flaws. If they fix the damn latency on keyboard arrow triggers, I can imagine many more types of maps in the future.
amen. Might as well shove a FPS engine in there as well eh ? jass scripting is very powerful w3 wise.. but the gui is very good of simplier maps. Perhaps upping the power of the GUI would result in a larger influx (hopefully some good) "basic" maps.
The more map-editor features, the better (so long as they're aren't so many that it gets confusing). A better unit editor would be awesome.
the wc3 map editor was the greatest. u could customize a unit in almost anyway, even change the abilities. If they add it to sc2 that'd be sick.
i would like to have custom unit animations and weapon animations, imagine a battlecruiser firing multiple powerful red lasers and many smaller blue lasers. the period of the big lasers and small lasers are not in sync so the animation would appear random until the period match up again and the cycle starts again
