against zergs, i usually use a one-gateway, two-robo build, relying mainly on colossi and immortals as my ground force (immortals split armored units and colossi shred lighter ones).

the problem is with zerg anti-air units. my ground force is susceptible to corruptors and mutalisks. i don't know whether or not i should use void rays or phoenixes.

i know that phoenixes are excellent against light units like mutas but weak to corruptors, while void rays are strong against corruptors while weak against mutas. void rays can also attack ground units, while phoenixes have to resort to the micro-heavy lift ability.

the best solution undoubtedly is to scout zerg and determine if he has corruptors, mutas, or both. however, i'd still l like to know that if i don't have scouting info, which units i should build.

    ____

    plus, a few questions

    1. how does the void ray's charge beam thing work?

    2. immortals are exactly 2x the cost of stalkers. is the dps of one immortal double that of one stalker? what about dps against armor? overall, is one immortal better than two stalkers against ground units? i haven't been able to get clear info on this, so sorry if i sound silly

What league are we talking? I've never heard of a such a zerg "ball"
Storm+archon would wipe this combo with next to no losses.

    1. It has a set amount of damage versus armoured and non-armoured which changes to a different set of damage after a few seconds. Check the unit's profile at the official site or the starcraft wiki.

    2. This is Starcraft, you can't compare units like that even within the arsenal of just one race. Two stalkers are better against lings zealots and marines, immortal is better against roaches stalkers marauders. Everything has a huge IF next to it - the whole game is situational.

like kuvasz said high templars and archons are good but if you are looking for a easier solution... you can just go blink stalkers with a good amount of upgrades.

you could transition into a couple dark templars which are good vs zerg

once the zerg has made enough detection, continue to make dark templars and merge them into archons to go along with your stalker army. This will help against zerglings that try to attack your stalkers. Also good for big muta balls when dealing splash damage.

immortals are amazing vs : tanks, marauders, stalkers, roaches, thors, ultralisks, buildings
immortals are very weak vs : zealots, zerglings, marines and obviously any air unit

    Try it in Custom maps.

You have all races, all buildings, all tech.

You can play around with anything and test whatever you want:cool:

I have used a similar ball to this, except there were brood lords in it and no mutas, but what I found is that a group of well microed archons will mop this ball up in almost no time at all. But I'm not sure if the mutas would make a huge difference or not, what I suggest is to experiment with different kinds of units and using them in different ways
