I'm not sure about you guys but i really can't stand consoles. I hate how so many good series or game ideas are being made for console only. Games like Halo 3 and GTA4 should have been developed for the PC and released at the same time as the console version. Even some of the PC magazines i read have moved almost purely to PS3, Xbox or Wii game reviews. Now i assume this forum will be some what biased since SC and other RTS's are basically made purely for the PC ( I hope this never changes) but i'm wondering whats your opinion on this trend in the gaming market.

I'm aware alot of these games are released like this so whichever company can sell more Xbox's etc but surely PC can get more love.

    PC. Hands down. No question.

@ ijffdrie. What do you mean companies refuse to let their good games go to PC? All the good games are on PC.

PC is inherently better because of the upgrade-ability
granted you can only upgrade to a point, but consoles are only eye-poppingly beautiful for a few years before companies have to redesign, market, etc a new console for people to shell out cash for

somewhat related subject: who else hates FPS on consoles? I hate Halo just because it is so console-dominated and spawns such a breed of overly-hardcore fans that wouldn't last a second against my mouse and I ;-D

Nikzad i agree with you. I know alot of people who have no idea how to play with a keyboard and mouse and who complain that FPS's on PC are way to hard since you need to coordinate yourself better to survive in multiplayer. While only the trully insane on consoles can match a fairly sub par FPS PC player.

The only good game type for consoles are racing games and a few platform games because half the fun is trying to work out how to use the controller properly.

yeah, the Wii has brought some interesting stuff for consoles though. I like how new styles of games have come about because of the unique interface they use. I mean, who though boxing with cartoon characters who have no arms, legs, or necks could be so much fun?

i just realized something...Itza's thread about art kinda made me think of this

in art history there was a whole realism movement where artists tried to capture things as they were in real life, but then after it, there was a big counter-movement in terms of abstract art and surrealism and stuff

you can apply it to console wars, too. microsoft, sony, and nintendo have been duking it out to get graphics as realistic as possible until now, where the Wii has kinda turned in a different direction and gone for more stylized graphics and games. interesting how history repeats itself. this could be a good argument in the "Are video games art?" thread too

more and more games are made for consoles because it doesn't pay to make them for PCs. The PC game market is DYING if you didn't notice. I'm not saying that at some point there won't be anymore games for PC, but right now great majority of market is owned by consoles (about 80% ?) and it's still going in their favor.
The main reason for this is probably high piracy rate, even good games may be a failure for companies because most people just download the game isntead of buying them.
What do PCs have that consoles don't anyway? Mostly it's MMORPGs, RTS and FPS (also Sims kinda failed on consoles), though there are more and more FPSs for consoles and iirc it's already possible to use mouse/keyboard with some consoles so controls aren't really an issue anymore.
I wouldn't really count ability to upgrade PC as an advantage. Sure, you can upgrade your machine to play newer games, but it costs and not everybody can do that whenever they feel they need it. On the other side you need to buy a new console every few years so I don't think either side gets points for that. Consoles may come out cheaper but if I'm not mistaken they have more expensive games too.

As for opinion about actual gaming. I don't have a console or a gaming computer, but I think all the flaming (not here, but I've seen more than enough of it) between PC and console lovers is just stupid. Both mediums have great games and you can have as much fun with either. I'm going to buy a new PC sometime in near future, but there are many console games I'd like to play too, so if I could I'd like to have both. (AND time for actually playing them >.>)

No it doesn't: http://www.lfs.net/ Get yourself a proper wheel with FFB and it'll blow your mind.

I have an old PC and an old console and both are good. PC for SC and FPS games, PS2 for fighting games and other "console-only" games.

    @Nikzad
Well I was relying on what I read here and there and apparently it wasn't too precise. Alsoshouldn'tattempttowritethingslikethisrightafter9hoursinschoolblahblahblah But I was more or less right about current situation.
But hey! It's good news isn't it?

I'm a little worried about valve's interest in microtransactions though. True, it's good from developers' point of view, but what about us players? It may be handled differently in other genres than MMORPG (where microtransactions are most popular I think), but it usually means that you have to grind for ages to just have a chance against a run-of-the-mill noob with 1337 g34r he got on very beginning. Hell, iirc there are games where you just can't get best items unless you pay for them.
Now don't take me wrong, I'm not saying games should be free, but I'd rather pay a set ammount of money (even periodically) and be on equal grounds with everyone rather than getting owned unless I keep paying for new stuff.
I just hope that if they use microtransations, they'll still try to have their games reward skill moreso than wallet and not the other way

First, it's not open source. Second, I wouldn't say it has bad graphics, rather it is physics oriented. The games you call sims look realistic but they don't even get close to the sophisticated physics of LFS. And frankly, true racing fanatics want good physics, not good graphics.

Lastly, from the "uncomplet game" I assume you haven't tried it. If you did, you'd know it has much fewer bugs than "complete" games that are on the shelves. The developers could easily call it full S2 but they want to implement several features (like GTR cockpits) before calling it final.
