I am considering purchasing this computer - for $800.00. It includes a 20 inch monitor. Do you guys think this is a good deal?

    • 6GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs] from 4GB
    • 750GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 500GB
    • 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5570 [DVI,HDMI, DP, VGA adapter]
    • HP 2010i 20-inch Diagonal HD Ready Widescreen Monitor
    • LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
    • Integrated Ethernet port, No wireless LAN
    • Integrated sound

It's an OK deal. A very poor graphics card for the price. This looks like the specs of a computer sold at Costco or Best Buy. Wasted money on the lightscribe drive, large(ish) hard drive, and monitor, and sacrifice on the things that matter - CPU and GPU

    I wouldn't recommend it.

Well, the graphics card seemed OK to me. It's 1 GB, and I thought that with the AMD Phenom processor, it might be serviceable. Is it just an older card? I'm also looking around at other sites - Cyberpower, ibuypower, velocity micro, maingear, digital storm, I just can't seem to decide what the best value is. I understand that building it on your own is considered best, but I really don't trust myself. I am terrible with things like that. And, I don't trust any of my friends who claim they know how to, either.

It's not really an older card per say, its just not the best bang you could get for the buck.

I saw one similar to that but it had a 4650 1 gb card. About the same price, $780.

I'd go with Systemax computers sold through TigerDirect.com, SI has the best technical support.

If you find a good one let me know. I'm sort of in same boat. Except I bought a macbook a few months back and it barely plays SC2 on low.
Debating if I should get a cheap desktop or not.
