    Canada, eh?
Today I just asked my dad if he wanted to go 50/50 on a computer with me, and he offered to buy the entire thing for me.
Which is a shocker. And my normally hates me around technology too long mom is completely go for it too.
So I have money to spend and soon to be my own good rig.

We haven't had our computers upgraded for years now, so the only things I play are the Orange Box, Starcraft, Warcraft, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch and World of Warcraft. Not very demanding although I can't play Half-Life 2: Episode 2 because it's graphic intensive for my computer, I lag sometimes in Portal, but I can get away with Team Fortress 2 on lower settings. World of Warcraft I can run every video option on full.

On my to buy list is already...
    Demigod (when it comes out)
Starcraft 2 (when it comes out)
Diablo 3 (when it comes out)
Wrath of the Lich King (not much visual difference from regular WoW I bet, but they said they were updating some stuff like fire graphics and I bet there might be lag from the destructible environments being crumbled to nothing, but yeah, when it comes out)
Possibly Hellgate: London, I need more convincing though.
Champions Online (when it comes out)
Age of Conan...? Is this sucker pay monthly?
Halo 2: PC for Vista if I do get a good Vista rig.
Probably Bioshock. My friend won't shut up about it.
    Quake 4.
Doom 3...? I'm a sugar chugging gamer, this might shoot my nerves with crap popping through walls, doors, and stairs.

Any suggestions would be nice, but keep in mind I'm mainly a RPG/FPS/RTS fan, and I'll try the occasional puzzle.

World War and pay monthly games are out. I'll only watch WW movies, and my dad gave me the evil eye every time the bills came in and City of Heroes (which we're still paying for because I can't cancel my account because I can't remember any of the details including my password, account name, and secret answer) was there along with World of Warcraft. I use gamecards for WoW now and don't quite care for City of Heroes. Too slow paced for me. Yeah yeah, WoW is a slow churning grind fest itself, but I find myself drawn to it because I grew up with Blizzard.

But ranting aside, throw me some game names.

Age of Conan is pay monthly and it is very buggy and gets boring end game, the combat system kicks ass though, I got max level (80) in 1-2 weeks of playing, you'll go even faster if you don't play a tanking class. If after playing the end game stuff for a little while and having a full tier 3 guild city I canceled my subscription.

Hell Gate: London, don't even bother with that game.

Bioshock is just an updated version of SystemShock 1 and 2 and not that good in my opinion.

If you want to try out a really cool fps game you should try S.T.A.L.K.E.R there is no other game out there with the same experience or atmosphere.

Quake 4 was a disappointment for me and I pre-ordered and bought the collectors edition version of it.

I've heard good things about Doom 3 but have not experienced it myself.

Hellgate london didn't hold my interest for more than a couple days, its mediocre at best.

Bioshock however is a beautifully done game, the graphics and storyline are spectacular, even if the gameplay is a bit generic. (though definately not sub-par)

Supreme Commander is an excellent RTS though, even better with the expansion. It has a severe learning curve, but once you get that down it simply has a very elegant interface. Love the zoom.

Quake 4 and Doom 3 simply aren't even worth the time, not with Bioshock and Orange box out there. If you want a good third person RPG, Assassins Creed is great. There's nothing quite like sneaking up to a random stranger, stabbing them in the kidneys, and walking away like nothing happened. Well worth the time.

Also, keep an eye on Red Faction: Guerilla when it comes out, looks like it could be alot of fun (THQ game). And don't forget to buy Spore next month, no self respecting gamer can pass that up.

The first line before your first comma depresses me about Conan.

Yeah Hellgate I've been on the fence about it because a friend has it, but he's stopped.

Never played the System games, so Bioshock might be something new for me.

Heard lots of good things about S.T.A.L.K.E.R., might grab it.

Quake 4 I have the demo of, liked it, and grew up with id alongside Blizzard. So I'll probably get it for the sake of having it.

Same here for Doom, and I'm nervous about even trying it at a friend's if any of 'em have it.

    @Myrcutio
Oh riiiiight, Supreme Commander slipped my mind, that looks like a damn fine game.

Aren't the PC controls for Assassin's Creed a bit... meh?

I'll have to for Red Faction ever since I played the PS2 one of the first game or whatever, can't remember much including if that was the first RF game or if it even was for the PS2.

You need to play HL ep 2 first though, when you finally can.

If you want a newer RTS, try out C&C 3 and AoE 3. One of them might suit your style.

Stay alert for Spore and stuff.

From my first post: "so the only things I play are the Orange Box"

And I have the Spore Creature Creator, I'm a failure at it though, and sometimes it doesn't want to open up.

Gas: I'll have to give those two a whirl. AoE = Age of Empires right? I have the first one and the second one, so that's probably going to purchased.

And I've never played Command and Conquer, but a newest would one be my best bet to learn about, right?

Yeah, Age of Empires III. And you should at least try out C&C 3.

But why are you boycotting WW kind of games? IMO CoD4 is epic win. Oh, and it's a World War 3 game, as in fiction, kind of. Is that of any comfort for you? :p

I'm on the edge about CoD4. Do or do want? That is the question.

And WW games are just... very frequent, although seemingly nowadays not as much.

The Witcher Enhanced edition is coming out soon as well, you might want to pick that up too it's a great action RPG but only after you have gotten the other things mentioned. I would say the same thing about Mass Effect, it's a great game but should only pick up after you get the other Triple A games that are on PC.

Call of Duty 4 can be fun but it can get old and repetive really fast.

Yeah I think it's a good game and all, but I can't really play more than two matches at my friend's house.
