The day I heard the Predator is gonna be axed, I started thinking of a way to include it in the game, as I want the firebat to be in the game, too. As I don't see that much use for the Cobra at the minute, I thought, maybe you could combine it with the Predator! They also look quite similar to each other.

So the unit's name would still be Cobra and it would be built from the factory. It wouldn't need a tech lab to be built, but the upgrade to make it fly would be researched there. It would use the same attack as the Predator when in air mode, and it would be pretty fast. The intercept ability would work as with the Predator. The ground mode Cobra would also need a special ability, because if it doesn't have any, the ground mode wouldn't be used for anything as soon as the air mode upgrade would finish.

I think this would make the Terrans an even more mobile, because if Drop Pods became loadable and my idea is taken into consideration, the siege tank and the Firebat (I don't think it counts as infantry anymore) would be the only units in need of Drop Ships (infantry would get podded, air units would fly, and the Thor would be built on-site).

    Discuss.

While I'll give you props for the idea, it is too similar to the Viking. Terrans do not (and should not) have a more or less identical type of unit.

Maybe instead, give the Cobra the intercept ability instead of the slowing one. To counter the fact that the Cobra could do this while moving, make it able to shoot down less missiles. This way, the intercept ability and strategy would still be in the game, and the Cobra's move and shoot mechanic (be it for intercepting projectiles or dealing damage) would also remain important.

Yeah, I thought it might be too similar to the Viking, but at the same time, I think it would be cool to send in your AA task force, and then transform them into land units. I also like your idea of giving the Cobra the intercept ability, as it would make it much more useful.

I thought it had both GTG and GTA attacks.

It does, he's saying that it's the most effective unit the Terrans have for GTA, like the Goliath.
(Debatable I know, but you get my point.)

Ok. I still think it would be cool if the Cobra could change into a Predator-like unit. But maybe in the expansion...

he has a big bonus damage versus aerial a long range and a slowing attack, isnt that enough?
