Anyone seen the trailers for this movie? Seems pretty cool, I'm gonna see it for my birthday :p

I wonder what the monster will turn out to be. I have my own theory, but due to legal constraints, I can't tell you it. Let's just say this monsters...
    Never gonna give you up...
    Never gonna let you down...
Never gonna turn around and desert you...

But seriously, what do you think of the movie? Not revealing the monster is a gimmick, but whatever, it works enough to get me in the theater.

Oh my god, I just got back from this movie. It was CRAZY intense. It's about 120 minutes, it feels like 30. Edge of your seat and all that. It's like Godzilla done right. I won't say anything about what it is, because the trailer shows NOTHING, so this is a spoiler rich movie. It's like every good tense movie you've seen meets Blair Witch Project (Way it's filmed is like that). Definitely go see this movie if you like edge of your seat thrillers.

    **** good.

...it seems kinda...boring. Just a bunch of screaming and special effects. Do they even have a plot?

I do not recommend this movie for those who are afflicted with motion sickness. It excels in visual disorientation but makes up for with an awesome revamp of a dead genre.

    @ Fenix:
Did you see the thing at the end? :)

Well, I can say that the movie hit all the buttons for me as a monster movie. The plot line was just the icing on the cake.
Although, to really understand most of that movie you would have to follow its viral campaign. The monster was completely original at least it seemed to be from my perspective. (Although we know it was semi-based off Godzilla by J.J.'s words.) The camera styling for it was in this case perfect. I know many would disagree with me, but hey, I like it and its my opinion. I'm really now just hoping for a sequel. (Note: Cloverfield took only 30 Million to make for everything.)

    Overall Rating: 9/10
    Monster Factor: 9/10
    Suspense Factor: 10/10
    Character Development: 7/10

That is my personal review. :) And yes I am back on the forums from a bit of a break.

Isn't the monster a giant whale mutant?

I've seen trailer (no sound) and there was nothing in it... Some party then fireballs start shooting out of nowhere, the end.

So what's it about in general? I hear some monsters? In that case I'd watch it, but I never heard of it around here

One monster in particular, though it does have spawn. Pretty much beats the shit outta New York.

For information on Cloverfield I recommend : http://www.cloverfieldnews.com/ If you have seen the movie just browse the forum and find answers to what you need. This site follows the viral campaign pretty much from the start so if you wanna know some Cloverfield background it is there.

I'd like to see it, but I'll probably wind up waiting for it to come out on DVD and renting it.
