    Hello everyone,

    i was thinking and...

since Kerrigan was a Human/Terran before...and she was also a ghost...

why did not zerg had any cloacked unit????

it would be something cool to have no?

like uh...infested terrans? but a spcialized infested terran unit like...uh...silly example: infested Ghost

    know what i mean?
tell me what you think about this guys

Look, the reason zerg don't (and god willing won't) have cloaked units is because Zerg are not Terran nor Toss. Zerg burrow, some of them move while they burrow, some don't.

Saying it would be cool if the Zerg had a cloaking unit is like saying it would be cool if the Terrans had a cheap easily produced enmasse melee unit with superior movement speed....

Or how cool would it be if zealots could burrow. While we are at it why dont marines cast psi storm, and have stalkers crap auto turrets.

In short if you want the races to have the same things just look different go play c&c, warcraft 1, and 2, or any other generic rts. No it would not be cool if the zerg got a cloaking unit. I can see it happening possibly, and it might even fit depending on what it is. However the flavor of the zerg is that they burrow. Considering EVERY zerg unit can burrow I think that more then makes up for it.

No, that would be more like if he had said it would be cool for Zerg to have an expensive, difficult to produce enmasse air unit with a cloaking ability :)

Anyway, I think the question that gets asked more is should Zerg have a unit that can attack while burrowed. Which I still think will happen when the Zerg expansion gets released, most likely with the reintroduction of the Lurker in some form or another.

yeah burrow is not as good as cloak because they cannot attack while burrowed like dark templars can attack while cloaked.. obviously xD

and i think thats unfair.... i miss the lurker :(

True, and I always liked the lurker, sure he was ridiculously powerful when he was entrenched, but even more so then the siege tank he was utterly powerless when he wasn't burrowed. As such it was an interesting concept that while slightly similar to the tank was still different enough to maintain the uniqueness of the Zerg as a whole.

Its irritating when people call for the homogenization of the races.

Lurker wont come back in the HOTS. If it's not in this one I REALLY dought it'll be in that one. I mean think about it. It will prolly be in the campaign like wraiths, medics, firebats, and vultures were but not in the multiplayer mode. Not unless people make a big deal out of it which I really havn't seen.

IF people are really feeling bringing the lurkers back to multiplayer..because let's face it..the zerg could use a good unit... Let's all storm the SC2 official website and each post a "BRING THE LURKERS BACK!" thread all at the same time on a given date to throw it in Blizzard's face. That might get our thoughts heard if 200 people post it at the same time. Just an idea..

Anyway... It DOES make sense that the zerg should have a cloaked unit. The way the race works is that it steals genes and such from other species to help further their DNA strands to produce stronger and better things. It would only make sense that the zerg would pick up some sort of a cloaking gene. For christ's sake, their..."leader" Kerrigan was a powerful Ghost, obviously had to be if they decided to take her and not some other Ghost. You'd think she'd be able to throw in the psionic genes of hers into the gene pool. Plus all of the ghosts they've killed. When it really comes down to it though.. I don't think any units legitemtly goes invisible. If I'm not mistaken the ghost's suit helps them stay cloaked or atleast coserve their energy. All the terran vehicles that cloaked were mechanical, and Dark Templars bent the shadows to cover themselves or something. None of which are really DNA type of OMFG LOOK AT ME I'M INVISIBLE! (Find the joke in that statement.) So a cloaking zerg may not actually seem all that possible.

Another thing to look at is the fact that no zerg fighters are meant to have a mind of their own and very advanced thought process, atleast not the lower tier and especially nothing above the instincts of a vicious animal. That's what the zerg are though, vicious animals. They stalk up to their pray quiet and deadly, or lure them into a trap, and then BAM! Everything comes up and attacks. Though difficult to utilize most of the time it's there for those of us with a high enough apm.

Cloaked Cracked Lings would be epic though.... >____>

And don't say anything bout the whole terran not having cheap units to produce quickly. Barracks + Reactor = 2 Marines = 3-4 Zerglings and with stim, shield, and attack upgraded that = 4-5 zerglings

You are correct about the ghost. the suit is what allows them to use their powers to cloak themselves. the Dark templar on the other hand use their own powers to warp light around themselves.

As such since templar cannot be infested and the zerg are not quite up to snuff on high end nano technology a zerg cloaker is (once again hopefully) unlikely

In regards to your marine analogy... huh? I never said that the terrans cant produce low end units quickly, nor did I say they were worse... read my post before you criticize.

2 marines does NOT equal 3-4 zerglings. 2 marines will die to 4 lings and without micro wont kill one.

On the other hand 50 marines will annihilate 125 zerglings.

with upgrades and everything else....yippee? I dont know why you felt the need to add all that crap in.

Wasn't criticizing, was saying they do have such a thing...and now I see that you wrote melee unit. =P Whoops.

True, but in SC1 Infested Kerrigan could psi-storm, which suggests terrans can evolve along the same lines as the Protoss, and the Zerg are capable of pushing that evolution along at a faster rate.

So a cloaked Zerg unit is still feasible :D

edit: Oh, and balance aside, I think cloaked banelings would be absolutely hilarious.

Well.. SC1 was sort of limited. You can see in SC2 that Kerrigans new attack took the place of her psistorm. I think that was supposed to be the sort of attack she had. A sort of dark version of the psistorm. Probably using more like blunt force psionic power rather than conjuring up some crap.

Now that I think about it, the Changeling is the closest thing Zerg have (lorewise, anyway) to cloaking: camouflage. Too bad the Changeling is useless outside of having a free temporary scout unit. Still, it'd be kind of interesting to see a Zerg unit who's cloaking would be explained in lore as a camouflage reflex.

slightly OT, but this entire thread kind of makes me wish Burrow had some sort of secondary benefit, be it native or researched, to make it just a pinch more useful. Maybe +1 to armor, or double health regeneration. Normal regen for Zerg units (excluding Roach ofc) is 1hp/3.65 seconds; 1hp/1.82 seconds while burrowed doesn't sound terribly game breaking to me.

They could make it like those dinos in Jurassic Park 3, the ones that act as a chamelion. So you can see it more clearly when it moves before it completely adapts its skin to the background.

Functionally it would be a lot like burrow, but it would add flavor and some advantages (e.g. no need to burrow/unburrow, not impossible but difficult to see while moving...similar to cloaked targets actually, but the animation should be different).

.... Really? intelectual is spelled intellectual (spell check's free).

Next, I countered your arguments, and rather then continue you broke out the personal insults. "intelectual" you are not.

Next, I know exactly what the forums for. If you post ideas others will agree, or disagree. I disagree with yours, and its annoying when you state them as fact and you have no idea what your talking about. When you know the basics of discussion lets talk again.

.... You don't get the irony of insulting someones intelligence, and misspelling the word? That's funny.
I believe what you MEANT to say, is I'm flaming you with no reason.

In point of fact, what I did was not flaming, it was disagreeing in a harsh and sarcastic manner because your idea called for the homogenization of the races. An idea that I strongly oppose in every manner possible simply because it will destroy the game that I enjoy so much. I did not flame you, I have refrained from personal attacks (unlike you) and I have supported my arguments.

In short, your an idiot (well I DID refrain) your debate skills are nonexistent and you don't even read your own thread. Ghosts get cloak from their suits not from their powers. The powers activate the suits and that's what allows them to cloak. The Zerg on the other hand (as has already been pointed out) are purely biological. HENCE, no nanotechnology.

All zerg ground units, including their drones, can burrow, and that's a very powerful tactic when you're base is being harrassed. A couple units can move while burrowed. Roaches can move while stealth and get crazy good regen while burrowed. Infesters can move and cast "infested terran" while burrowed. Infestors popping out a line of infested terrans in your mineral line is the closest you get to lurkers right now.
