City view - by kuvasz

Hi all,

I have recently finished the project that took a great part of my free time (and some of my studying time) away and it is a great pleasure to present to you: City view. The title comes from the original city picture that I used as the base and I got to like it because of the contrast in what it implies and what the image shows

I’m fully aware that my Photoshopping skills need improving but hey, I’ve got to start somewhere. On the whole, I’m quite happy with the result and I’d like to hear your opinions on it.

As a bonus, I’ve attached the render I used. It is an edited version of the official Colossus render but I’ve corrected a few (well, quite a lot of) errors which were mostly faulty edges due to lighting. If someone wants to use it in their own montages or other projects, feel free to do so. I’d be happy to see your results.

I’ve also attached a wallpaper version of it, if anyone feels like having it on the desktop

The Colossus is really as big as a building ?

It's amazing that you got the colossus to actually look realistic enough to make it fit in the image of a real picture, nice job.

I'm going to use this as my new wallpaper.

I have a problem.

When I try to set the colossus image for my desktop image, it only shows a dark blue screen. For some reason, only this image won't work, other images from sites work, but this one won't.

What's going on and how can I fix this?

Try setting it from firefox by right clicking on it and setting it as wallpaper or download it and do it the classic way. Also, your desktop seems to be in 1280x1024 resolution, which will warp the image and drastically degrade quality. Since the original city image was in 1000x750 resolution I decided to only do a wallpaper in 1024 resolution because then the border is not too obtrusive.

 

I use internet explorer, so I'm not sure if that might have been the problem.

I got it fixed though, I just copied the image over to microsoft paint using the print screen button and resized to the largest I could get it to all fit, then decided to have it stretch the image so that it would fill the whole screen.

For some reason, my computer didn't like me taking the image directly from the site. Here is how it looks now:

It does look a little warped, but I think it looks better this way than with there being dark blue edging around the image.

 

Oh you have wide screen, can't help with that. But it looks ugly, take it off j/k

That's because this computer has all my graduation pictures (about 50) that were taken with a digital camera. Also there is all the random pictures I have, plus both my signature and avatar images.

Anyway, I think most labtops have widescreen, at least most of the ones I have seen, and I'm keeping it. I think it being stretched out just a tad makes the colossus fit with the background more.
