I've recently reached rank 2, in Bronze. And I've hit a road block and lost maybe 4 or 5 matches straight, All to cheese builds. , the last I saw I reached the toss base and he was putting up two stargates. When I had returned to my base there were at least four cannons hidden in the corner and I was the unfortunate victim of a cannon rush.

How do I scout for these?

2 stargates in my base, before I can produce any marauders and the first zelaot is already too much for marines. I have to pull my SCVs off and try to take out the pylon, but at that point cant stand up to the next number that produce. Granted its my fault for not scouting in my own base.

I did get probe rushed however one game, don't really know how to handle that =\

OMG probes are imba! :D I really don't know an answer, but I guess once his probes reach your base, you should have more scvs that him and win. Try to surround so they can't retreat to recharge their shields. And micro a bit, if he focus fires one scv, let it run in circles while picking off probes with other scvs.

What you could also try as a terran, is loading your scvs into the cc and fly away to an expansion which is sealed off by rocks, or located on an island. Just play your usual game from that point on, you should have equal economies or even an advantage, especially if he doesn't realize he has to play normal from now on.

I believe you mean Gateways. Stargates warp in air units. Anyway, countering Gateway/Cannon/proxy Pylon rushes simply requires you scout your base every so often (and perhaps the immediate area around your choke point if you're feeling extra paranoid). Unfortunately Probes can be rather obnoxious to kill without basic infantry units. If I find a probe sniffing around my base, I'll take a worker off my mineral line and chase it until I manage to kill it, or it leaves my base. Sometimes I'll chase it halfway across the map just to make sure it doesn't drop a proxy Pylon anywhere near me.

First everyone stop calling it cheese.

It is a valid tactic, deal with it, adapt or leave.

When you scout with a worker early in the game and you see in protoss base they have nothing or only a pylon in forge you must immediatly scout your inner base.

If you see no cannons or pylongs or anything else of thiers in your main base it probably means they did a proxy zealot rush close to you.

Either way its easy to defend.

Useing 5 or 6 works to kill forming cannons and 1-2 workers on the enemy probe.

that should hold them off long enought till you get fast marines zealots or lings.

Never never take all workers off minerals to defend.

If u do u dead either way.

If its a proxy zealot rush and they dont do it fast enough you may have time to wall in, or if zerg get 2-3 spine crawerls.

And be aware of the fake Cannon rush.

A pylon in an obvious spot just means he won't really cannon rush you, just he wants u to take workers off to damage your econ.

ignore the pylon until you get zealots marines or lings or use workers if he starts making cannons.

You start a philosophical discussion here. From this point of view, there is no cheese, bc cheese only works on the unwary player, and therefore he's guilty himself. But it's still cheese to me, I accept it as a tactic, but it's cheese, that's just what it's called, isn't it. If you invest a ton of minerals into cannons and it fails, you are in trouble.

i dont beleive in cannon rush :D its gay, its lame, its easily detectable, and it screws your economy
if your opponent catches you trying a cannon rush your pretty damn screwed because you just wasted several hundred starting resources on nothing. anyways experienced players usually scout their base just incase and are impervious to cannon rushes.

Only bad players use it as their only means of winning.

better, more experienced players use rush tactics to distract the enemy while they tech to something better.
