solved : Can't set custom resolution to fit HDTV Hello alll I'm using a full HDTV as a monitor and have to shrink my desktop from 1920x1080 to 1842x1034 in order for the desktop to fit. Unfortunately SC2 does not pick up this custom resolution in the in-game res options. I've tried editing the variable txt lines but this doesn't work. I've also contacted tech support and followed all the standard dviver updates that they have suggested without any joy. Whilst I have been impressed with how quickly they have managed to reply to me they have only been able to suggest using full screen windowed mode. I've got a nice PC but in full screen window performance and quality drop substancially. If anyone has any ideas i'd be very grateful. I never played SC and so saw SC2 as the perfect antidote to my recent C+C 4 disappontment. These problems have taken the shine off what looks life a cracking game. please help applelover
The fact that you must use a custom res tells me you are having some kind of overscan issue on your TV. It sounds like maybe, your TV is underscanning (if you have to reduce resolution to make stuff fit). Can you tell us more about your machine setup and your TV? I'm assuming you are on a Mac.. or that you really like Apple's.
Nah, some TV's just have that issue (overscan). For those with VGA input, using that instead of HDMI will usually solve the problem. There are also some HDTV sets that have the option to turn off overscan or run in "computer mode".
Or, you can use your video cards settings to change the overscan, or sometimes the TV itself has options. Adjusting overscan and how it is done depends on your videocard and OS. Only setup I have any experience doing it on is Windows with a ATI card, but I'm sure it can be done in other ways. Once I know their setup, I can track down what needs to be adjusted and how.
Thanks gys Here's my dxdig. I'm actuallly a PC owner and have never owned a Mac. I just like eating apples, they're great  Thanks again
Hello I've got a samsung LE40B550 and after looking up info have found out that it has an over/under scan option called 'screen fit' that I was not aware of. Tried it and everything is working perfectly. No more 1842x1034 for me Thanks for your replies applelover
I believe both ATI and Intel uses scaling. Unfortunately, the way it's done via the NVIDIA control panel is by using a custom resolution. Oh well, all good now that the OP has fixed the issue.
