Can't seem to break into diamond!

I've been trying for 2months to break into diamond league, I'm the top plat player in my league, and i just keep playing and playing games. I have about a 50% win ratio if this even matters. I'm lost, I don't know what else to do, HELP ME SC2FORUMS!

 

This might have something to do with your 50% win ratio.
This means ur not constantly winning, meaning that this is your actual skill level. Rank doesnt mean much - if u play a lot with a 50% win ratio, u WILL get a high rank.

 

I was top of plat for a while before breaking into diamond. Pay attention to the league your opponent was in. I switched to diamond once i had about a 50%+ ratio against diamond players not just plat and gold players.

 

50% win rate won't get you into diamond, you can't be trading evenly against diamond players, when I was on my way to diamond I held platinum rank 1 for a week until I finally got it.

It's not about how many diamond players you win in a row though, because I won 2 games in a row and got promoted, but there would be other times where I had won 7+ games in a row and still no promotion.

Just get better at the game and try to break out of the 50% win rate, I mean I'm not doing that well either but around 60%+ against diamond players should get you promoted, good luck and cheers.

 

I did a bit of research recently about promotions ect. and from what I could find you need pretty close to a 100% win rate against yor own leage + a 50% win rate minimum against the higher leage (in this case diamond)

So you could win 3-4 matches in a row against diamond players but if you lose the next 2 to platinums you'll be waiting a bit longer.

 

Basicly you need a ~50% win rate against diamond players and >50% win rate against platinum players as a general rule.

Thing is the higher the matchmaking rating of the enemy you win against the more your mmr will change upwards and the faster that will modify your actual rating to match your MMR.

Assessing which league you're in happens after a specific amount of games so you could be playing well and raise your MMR but the system hasn't checked if you're to be promoted or not, and then lose 5 matches in a row and after that 5th match get promoted(has happened to a friend of mine with 3 loses in a row) cause you went so high before losing those 5 matches that got pitted against high ranked players of the above level so your loses didn't drop your MMR too much.

Just do your best to win against all matches you play and winning will bring you up.

Also, the time you stay in a place shouldn't be counted in days but in games. I'm 2-3 weeks rank 12 bronze but I haven't played any games since then since i'm not bothered with the ladder(I'm mostly looking to play with friends or people I know so we can practice again and again instead of having a different opponent on every match and since my only 2 rl friends who play starcraft joined the army recently those partnairs are gone for me too

 

i have the same problems as you but from going to platinum from gold, i am rank 1 and sometimes the rank 2 passes me but i always pass him again and go to 1 again. but ive been rank 1-2 for the last three weeks and nothing. il try to check the profile of the people against i play. really helpfull

 

Don't bother checking the stats of your opponents, that doesn't help. Just focus on winning games. I'm sure you are having a few games that are really close, if you just keep all the essentials in mind (keep making workers, keep using scans and mules, keep upgrading, keep expanding, keep the pressure in the opponent with drops if you have to) and win those games, you will get into diamond.
