Ok so I have yet to see any posts describing my problem. I've been searching for days trying to find a solution and I'm about to give up. My problem is that the blizzard downloader does not seem to recognize that I have internet...or somethings blocking it. I have eliminated router/port forwarding issues by jacking straight into the modem. I have completely disabled my firewall and to my knowledge I have no anti-virus/spyware/malware software on my computer. The Blizzard tech support guy suggested this was issue...i just emailed him telling him I didn't have any anti-virus anymore. I'm waiting to hear back from him. Last night I said **** it...ten years and Im just not gonna b able to play it...i wake up and start searching again...lol I wanna play theis game sooooo bad!!!...someone please help. Also, I have tried disc install but u ned the patch to play. Patch DL doesn't even start post-installation. This message just loops saying I need the patch to play....i hit ok...and message just pops right back up...after a very brief black-screen. I bring up blizz downloader and it says tracker not responding...the download doesnt even start. My eternal gratitude to whoever can help or point me in the right direction.

Download the manual patch information and put it into your downloader folder. If that fails, you may need the patcher update that has come out. I am splitting this off into its own topic.

Please post a dxdiag of your system using the instructions found in the FAQ. If you havea 64-bit OS, click the button to run the 64-bit dxdiag. Save all of that as a text file, and then attach it to a post.

For some reason, I'm not seeing the dxdiag. Does it say "awaiting approval" or anything like that?

Oh, add the file to a zip or rar then. WinRar is much easier to use then WinZip imo.

Once WinRAR is installed, rightclick on dxdiag.txt and select "add to dxdiag.rar". That will create it as a rar archive.

No problem. I'll be around most of the night due to an extended nap I didn't intend on taking. XD

As for the patch looping you are getting, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\Logs (remove the x86 part if you are using a 32-bit OS) and then attach Downloader.log too. You don't need to zip/rar it since its small.

no. WinRar is a well known file archieve program. This is the download page for the EXE. They do want you to pay for the program after 30 days or so, but you can still use the program after that (meaning you don't really need to pay for it).

Okay, you might have an even deeper problem. What are you using for anti-virus right now?

Install Microsoft Security Essentials. Its free and is considered to be one of the lightest anti-virus programs around.

If you did plug right into Internet and by-passed the router with no firewall enabled, chances are you already have some kind of infection (yeah, computers are really THAT unsecure). My record for infection: 45 seconds. Update the definitions after installation, and then scan for viruses.
