I just got a new Hard Drive for my computer, and I downloaded Windows 7 onto it. Whenever I go to battle.net to download the game (Starcraft + Brood War at once) which worked just fine and dandy before, now does not work. I'm not sure if I left something on in the features, or if it's just Windows 7 or whatever. I suppose in a last resort I can save the game to a USB drive and put that in the computer (I've done it before) but I'd prefer to have it DL'd to the computer itself. Here's a picture of what I get: http://yfrog.com/em47184657p
You are not alone. I have EXACTLY the same problem. They will send you a list of trouble-shooting problems but they will not help (they will then ask you to run it as administrator and it will not help either). I lost hope honestly, I didn't get my problem resolved (I paid for nothing). I will buy a hard copy and for my wasted money.. well, Blizzard deserves it to be honest. If you figure out a way to download the game please let us know.
The Blizzard downloader is not exactly the most awesome thing in the world. You might try alternate browsers, check your firewall, the usual. The problem is that the BDM (No s) isn't able to talk to Blizzard and make sure that you've paid for the download. This is bad. Win7 is good at blocking unwanted servertalk, and sometimes even better at blocking wanted. Or, if you've got another computer or operating system (XP, Ubuntu, OSX, Windows 95 (?) ) give that a go, burn to el disc or paste it to a USB and Bob's your uncle.
Lol. So run your browser in compatibility mode then. Regardless of if it works or not, the game will still have those graphical errors anyway. I think it was the water or something?
Hum ! So many different problems with the original Starcraft and Brood War. Blizzard is sleeping . zzzzzz Out of subject : graphic problem with win 7 64 bits. No patch from Blizzard in the horizon.
Start -> Control Panel -> System and Security (or some variation of such) -> Change User Account Control Settings (it looks like this for me: http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9781/faerw.png) -> Set it to "Never Notify" (The lowest one on the scale)
