We are nearing the Starcraft 2 release date. We know what models are in the game, we know what will happen in the beginning of the story. We also know that there are units and research that only appear in the campaign. Post ideas here what you think these units and research are. My guess is UED-only research for vehicles and stuff. Maybe upgrading the weapons and armor of vehicles and ships 4 times after doing a certain optional mission. Perhaps even a UED-only battleship during a mission where you fight with a UED-base. Of course, there will be transport ships to escort. I hope they look like the ones from the cinematics of sc1, always wanted to control those things. Then of course there will be spectres. Maybe a seperate buildable unit, maybe just upgraded ghosts. Then for removed units: cobra: they appear to be called diamondback tanks in the campaign and appear on Mar sara. Firebat: Maybe as Raynor's units? To show how old his equipment is? Predator: If it has the intercept laser, a UED unit, if not, maybe a space-only fighter stored on platforms? Medic: same as firebat Starbase: If this thing is not in the campaign, deaths will ensue. I would love to fight enemies who have these, and I could see them with the dominion. Merc compound: Could perhaps replace the barracks when playing Raynor in early missions? I could see Purifiers/soul hunters model being used as the dominion using stolen protoss technology to build strong anti-zerg weaponry.
Firebats and Medics are confirmed in for the campaign. Theres also the good ole goliath in the campaign as well
There isn't, from what info we've seen. There's a Dominion section for Raynor's Raiders. I bet that will include the Thor, and was confirmed for spectres. (Back in 2009, though, so things have changed.) While the map editor can handle that... no. Why bother with a measly +1 armor when you could have gotten something cool instead? And there are campaign-specific upgrades, such as one that makes the Hellion 40% faster, or one that lets goliaths target air and ground units simultaneously. (Indeed, each unit gets two specific upgrades; please note that many of these units don't appear in multiplayer at all, and others that do have zero or one specific upgrade of their own, so lots of unique upgrades there.) The UED will only have a minor role in the plot, so I kind of doubt that. Also, the UED remnants are just that... remnants. If they had battleships, they'd go home. (Battlecruisers have FTL tech.) The UED does have some heroic goliaths -- the Spartan Company -- which have become mercenaries. That would be cool. There's actually lots of transport vessels in the novels. Pretty sure they're separate units, as they have different (not just upgraded) abilities. Yes. (Meaning confirmed.) Although I'm not really sure they'll actually be on Mar Sara. Need to check some screenshots. Yes. What makes you think Predators have anything to do with the UED? Yes. Same here. Or UED, which sure loved their air units. (But, given the lack of a UED plot role, probably not.) No, you use this to buy actual mercs. (Eg elite marines called War Pigs, elite goliaths called Spartan Company, elite firebats called Devil Dogs, etc). Absolutely not! The purifier is a protoss unit. Look at the art on this page. Look at it!
The soul hunters were just a silly idea . But I said predators as UED because of their point defense laser, which would seem appropriate as the UED was supposed to be more technologically advanced
