What I want : To create an ums map that from SC you can choose the numbers of players and number of computers playing the game. I want to be able to choose my race and CPUs race including random. (Standard melee settings style).Any computer in the game will automatically be set to Insane what ever the race. I use the standard SCedit to create my maps, never used an add-on tool. I doubt this is feasible. What do you think? Edit*: Unless I had an Insane menu inside the map, so when you start, you choose how many computer (with civilians or something) then which race is each one.(Would not be as sharp then selecting from the start menu) Then game starts, the creation of each race should be easy enough from there. Random locations on the map might be a problem as well. = /
It would be possible to create triggers that first test whether the player is a computer player, then tests what race they are, then assigns an ai script based on that information. Random start locations could be a problem, and the game must be run as UMS. I think it will still be possible to make each race and slot selectable, though.
Having insane computer needs to be run in UMS anyway. Race selection: In the map editor you need to set the 8 players as either, Human,Computer, Rescuable and Neutral. The only choice that let us select a race is the human settings, every other need to have a default race on it. Once in the game lobby, you can't change that race. So it does not seems like I'll be able to choose either 7 terrans as enemies or 7 zergs when the game starts. And if I want to play the UMS with a friend, then I need to reserve a slot for another Random human player in the editor. This is where I'm stuck right now, I don't know if Blizzard did the Melee type of game with the current triggers or if they hardcoded it directly in the game.
for the issue of random locations, cant you just set a fixed location? or that wouldn't be starcaft'ish
