You now can detonate burrowed banelings in the latest #StarCraft2 builds. Clumped infantry beware! http://cot.ag/bhH1KA #SCUpdate

I'm getting redirected to the official SCII page for the Baneling, which hasn't been updated at all since it was first added. Do you have a real source, or are you just basing it on the lore entry?

wow, we officially have a landmine unit. not like those stupid spider mines that let people shoot them before they explode.

Ah yes but the spider mines were real land mines Lay them and you can forget as the explode on their own. Step on them and boom. I feel the player will have to manually explode each baneling they want detonated. So in fact this makes them totally different to the spider mines.

The nice thing though is that you can unburrow the banlings and move them to a new location, unlike the mines :D

Yes and you will have to keep them on the move or an airial unit + a detector unit = their little deaths.

I'd swear I knew tis about 2 months ago already. Nice to see a confirmation for a recent build, though.

@Aurora: It constantly goes back and forth.

@Ronin: Every time you use a carrot it's always on the next page for me. Looks quite ridiculous to be honest :D

this opens up some good possibilities with banelings. i can see someone burrowing banelings right outside someones choke/expansion with the opponent not noticing a thing. and as they gather for a push then *BOOM* all there units go by bye and there push is utterly destroyed and it leaves them open wide open for atk.

I think the banelings will be very used. But no one will build these massively. They will surely cost a lot of gas. As the original infested Terran. Of course for this last one you had first to infest a Command Center. With the banelings it will be easier.
Hope the AI will use those units too.

i thought transforming lings to banelings only costed an additional 50 minerals unless they changed someting in recent build? i didnt think they costed gas or if they did not much gass.

As I mean this baneling could cost a lot of gas like the original infested Terran. Maybe not. I am not sure of this. This is just an idea. The balance team will choose.

I wonder if banelings do more damage unburrowed. It should contribute to important choices to be made.

Now I can play Crysis in Starcraft 2. In Crysis you had a plastic charge and you just waited that the enemy was on the explosive and you detonated it ! BOOM !!
