Yeah, I was wondering about the build order log which shows after every game. Now, I played for about 18 minutes, the build order log but only showed up to 8:48. So, why is the log so short?

    EDIT:
By the way, it is pity that it is not possible to export the build log. Or does it work somehow?

I guess blizz just put it in there to help you learn what you should be doing at the start or each game and what your opponent does. After 8 minutes games typically turn into a much less replicatable event. Might also be to limit the amount of data battle net needs to hold especially for FFA games or any game which goes over an hour (depending on how its stored )

yeah, if your build order after 8-9 minutes isn't something totally variable and reacting to what's happening in that particular game, you're doing it wrong.

"build orders" in general are just opening strategies, much like the opening moves in a chess game. there's no point in recording them after a while because there's just far too many possibilities.

BOs are pretty much what you get in the first 5 mins or so.

You can't have a build order which carries into the late game, they're pretty much openings which set u up for different strategies later on.

e.g. a BO for an economic style or a BO for a rush style

The comparison to chess the best here, I think. In chess you decide to use an opening like "English" or "Nimtzowitsch" (I am sure, it's spelled incorrect *g*) or what so ever.

But most of the times you only talk about the first (let's say) 10 moves, not more. After this we have more of a mid game in which you should know some basic things and how to react to what (like you saw forge comming in the opening and you know there will be photon cannons). But there is no build order for later situations, because the longer the game is, the more possible situations there are. Same in chess. After 8 moves of white and 8 moves of black there are more possible combinations of moves than we have stars in our universe.

To sum up, it does not make sense to record more then the first minutes. :)
You have them to learn the basics (like not mining gas before you even build a barracks or an overlord or so).

I hope you understood what I meant. :)
