How long do they last? And if they spawn after the brood lords attack, that means attacking even friendly structures can get you free broodlings, which when massed will definitely pose a threat.
They have a very short lifespan, and are even weaker than StarCraft I broodlings. Against buildings like an upgraded planetary fortress, they might deal 0 damage per attack and actually prevent your zerglings and other melee units from getting close.
Like Kimera said, Broodlings have a very short lifespan; it's somewhere around ten seconds, and they only have something like 20 HP. They're really only there to goad enemy units into attacking them, which A) distracts the enemy from the more threatening targets, and B) (in the case of splash damage) will cause the enemy units to commit friendly fire.
First of all, there has to be a reason why Blizzard suddenly changed the model, name, and mechanics for the Broodling. And obviously the reason for that move is for Uniqueness. They really want to classify the Broodlord different from the the Guardian, and due to the fact that most of zergs units are revamped, this probably was a good decision to add more flavor to Zerg which really is in a state of wonders trying to identify themselves fromt their previous incarnations. If we look at it closely we would simply say that Broodlords are the same as guardians, just added with an egg mechanic to make it cool. This idea is true but the fact remains that the Broodlord is technically a genuine new Zerg unit. ...... Yes, all of what I'm saying is pretty much pointless, but I just have the knack for using my fingers on this new keyboard of mine lol... As for Mantalings - they have the same state of drama as the Broodlords. New mechanic, new name, old school..
I dont think that any unit deals 0 damage even aginast a fullyupgraded armor, it would be totally illogical. I think that 1 damage is minimum.
The same source that says that Broodlings are now Mantalings also says that they are released from buildings. Is the source saying that they are no longer released by buildings more recent?
I thought it was the other way around (since mantalings look like little flying mantises/brood lords).
Can someone upload some good images to show if there is some discrepancy between their identifications? I really thought that bro'odlings = mantalings. Common sense would imply that there is no such meaning for having two same functioning units having different names, just because they were born from different routes. I still believe that broodlings are out of the game, and was replaced by the mantalings which I think is the same residue unit of the zergs structures.
Thats what I thought ^, instead of there being broodlings there was mantalings. (BTW IM A BACK =D, but not for long) (I always felt anoying on here)
