I searched for the topic and found nothing helpful, so if one exists, my appologies.

anyway ive heard all kinds of things on how to unlock the secret mission for brood war, but im asking for info on it now.

How do you unlock it, ive heard you need to beat the final mission in less then X minutes.
Does cheating cancel the effect of unlocking the mission?

is there anything special other then duran explaining to zeratul about hybrids, is it in game conversation/dialogue, or written text on screen?

is the mission playable with a base or one of those indoor missions?

where do you find the mission after you unlock it?

and any other general info on the secret mission/s would be nice, thank you....

    1. u win the zerg mission in which u have to destroy toss base in 25 minutes or something. u cant use the cheat which automaticly wins the mission, but u can use those which give u more minerals and faster build and immortality, etc.
    2. when u win it it will say ''bonus mission activated''
    3. u play as toss
    4. save the game if u want to be able to play it after, as that bonus mission will not show in the zerg compaign place, and u dont have to do it, if u just end game without saving, u will go to the next zerg mission. and after u win the bonus mission, u will just continue playing the zerg compaign.
    5. u have zeratul with u in the mission. its interesting, explains a lot about hybrids and duran.

I was originally told that you had to beat both Starcraft and Brood War (up to that point, anyway) without cheats, but that sounded pretty suspect. I've gotten it once, but I don't remember how.

I'll try that method, GM. I'd love to play that stage again.

On the mission you have 30 minutes to destroy toss, but to unlock secret mission you have to do it in 25 or less.
"is the mission playable with a base or one of those indoor missions?

where do you find the mission after you unlock it?"

It's outdoor but you only have few units with you and can't build base (iirc Zeratul, 2 dragoons and 4 dark archons = quite a few BCs :p)

You can't find it anywhere, after the normal mission you get briefing for secret mission (some toss talking but in zerg briefing room style) and can play it. Like GM_k said, better save it because it doesn't show up anywhere in scenario selection

I got the bonus mission the first time i played the campaign. Then people kept asking about it as if it was hard to get to or something.

Considering that a fair amount of players use cheats (namely the instant win cheat) to beat the campaign missions, it is somewhat "secretive". In fact, I think that's the real reason why it was made the way it was; so that cheaters wouldn't be able to access it by simply typing in a cheat and beating the mission. You actually had to *gasp* play the game. What a concept...

You get it winning one of the last missions,, when you are surrounded by terrans and you need to take down some protoss base I think. If you can do it in less than 25 min. you get the bonus mission.

Yes you cannot activate the secret mission by typing "there is no cow level"

But you can use show me the money, operation cwal, power overwhelming, etc, etc to easily destroy all enemy bases within 25mins, this would give you a secret mission.

    *Warning* Spoiler here! :p
In this mission Zeratul and some other protoss units raided a small terran compound and discovered that the terrans are using protoss pylons, stasis cells to experiment with protoss and zerg units.
In the end of the mission Zeratul discovers that Duran is carrying out this experiment and there is a "protoss-zerg hybrid", meaning they've merged the genes of a protoss and a zerg together. This is exactly what the Xel'Naga wished for, a perfect race containing the purity of form and purity of essence

this has also lead to an incredible realization that Duran never was in fact infested and never was in fact an actual human.

If I made a base I'd tech for BCs. Why would I do that if I can just get cruisers? =]
