personaly i registered to this site hoping i would get i word into the guys who make starcraft 2personaly im disapointed with the game for one reason and one only were are the lukers guys its upsetting to see that they did but didnt make the game and if theres is any way please bring them back in A.S.A.P if anyone else is upset by this and would like results to post in on this and tell me what you guys think its not the same without those unit as well as the ability to inflict a terran outpost and spawn infected terran and the defilers are gone to but im mostly dissapinted about the lurkers being scrapped there an important part of the hive just like any other so guys reintroduce them in to the game please
Lurkers are in the game, and fully functional. You can only use them in custom maps. Why aren't there lurkers? Lurkers were awesome.
I wouldn't count on them bringing them back into multiplayer .. unless they do it with an expansion or something. Like the previous post said however they are in custom games.
They will be adding a lot of units with expansions. I was mad at all the things they took out from the original game in the multiplayer. To be honest, I feel like terran needs goliaths to give them some good anti air defense with machinery, but whatever. I'm not Blizzard. Anyways, I agree! More cool units please.
Thor is a Goliath on steroids. Area effect damage from explosions of the anti-air missiles, large range and damage on the ground, and has a siege-like effect that can be used when the energy is available. Lurkers would be nice, because then the Terran cannot just ball up and run all over the map. They have to first find where the lurkers are positioned and then use a number of ways to eliminate them before advancing. Else that ball would be eliminated quite quickly. However, on another hand I can see why took out the lurker. They would probably be rendered useless since the addition of the marauder.
Comman Lurkers will not be a threat to Terran, are you kidding me? To be a threat to Terran Zerg need something that can disable Siege Tanks, that would be awesome. I mean like something to freeze them in place, maybe the Overseer could do something like that... Don't get me wrong I love and want lurkers, its just I don't think their a good answer verses Terran. If he isn't an idiot he'll see the Spikes, scan and kill.
idk how lurkers would fit into the current zerg scene... all I want to be happy is a better t1 AA.... and the queen heal ability needs to be castable on the unit icon when large groups are selected. that would make it soo much easier.
It's not worth the balance. In order to make it fair they'd have to take something away. Hydra's would almost certainly get nerfed unless protoss and terran got something or a buff. I was never really that happy with lurkers. they were only effective against people that were bad. Same with DTs. They dont actually work versus good people.
I had typed up a paragraph about how they wouldn't be worth using, but as I was writing I was detailing strategies in which they can be used. Sure they have a similar capability as burrowed banelings, but lurkers have range and still force the enemy to use up a scan. and imagine popping roaches out right as an MMM ball comes in range of the lurkers to tank for them. They may not even notice the lurkers until it is too late, and they would have to auto target under the roaches... they don't even need to have good damage... even an 8 damage lurker (t2, maybe 3 food total) with 6 range with aoe in a line... the mechanic itself give them their strength, and not necessarily their brute power.
what about the defilers it was the best units, i mean whit a plague you take down a protoss ship army, and the dark swarm protecs you from a tank attack and it will be pretty usefull in SC2,
personally, the only reason i would use lurkers would be to defend my mineral lines from reapers, dts, lings and other attack against workers. Except for that, i dont like them since they have very little mobility
AFAIK their lack of mobility would be compensated for by giving them something like 8 range (outranging static defences). But in order for their burrow to mean anything, they need to come early enough to make detectors rare, which is why I think they should be morphed from roaches. After all, they're the masters of underground things.
Just play the Sc2+1 map on the custom's melee section, you get all the sc1 and sc2 units to play around with. Reaver drops are really fun with the warp prism, i can drop a reaver AND warp in units at the same time
Why did i now spot this post ? Of course i want my lurkers back !!! they are so beautifull But i think blizzard has stated that no new units will be given in multiplayer but i am quite sure they will be playable throught the HotS campaign mode (better than nothing...)
