Karune : As another update that you guys will get at BlizzCon, the Vulkans are now updated as the 'Nighthawks' in the BlizzCon build. They have updated art to reflect this as well. Those going to BlizzCon, make note of the cool new movement animations added to several Terran air units.

Some new Terran update art, update name and update movement animation to air units. Sounds classy.

Nighthawk fails as a name for a caster.

Especially for one that is of the sub-category physical summoner. Sound more like a (bad) new name for the Banshee. We'll just have to see at BlizzCon, huh?

Again? And Nighthawk? Isn't that the name of these stealth aircraft? Really suits the Banshee better than the Vulkan.

And I hope they will bring an option to change between languages in the game, at least the unit names and so on. Just in case the translations won't be any good Dx (And you wouldn't have to look the names up, if you don't know them.)

I really hope that Blizz came up with something brilliant that justifies the name change. And that means that it doesn't contruct stuff anymore (lest Blizz brilliantly connects the weird name with the turrets in some way) but perhaps uses spells more similar to the Sci ves.

When I hear Nighthawk I really expect the Vulkan to get a totally new design and a partial role change. It would still be a detector and tier three caster, but having a Nighthawk contruct stuff is awkward. I'd rather it drops bombs (it could get the EMP ability and at the same time unburden the Ghost that currently has too many abilities going on) among other things.

I agree, and I'd much prefer a non-spawning Vulkan as well. The science vessel was so much cooler and distinct with its abilities, and unit spawning is very Zergish.

Yeah. The Nomad with the Turrets seemed cool, but really, I think irradiating enemies is more fun than placing a Turret next to them. The Nomad (I say Nomad repeatedly as that was the design that fit the most with contructing stuff) needed more interesting structures to be any fun.

kuvasz might have stumble on something here. Maybe they think Vulkans to be a more fitting name for the Turrets spawned from the Nighthawk. I think turrets named as Vulkan would not be a total fail. But I sincerely doubt about « Nighthawk ».

Nomad and Vulkan were both tough, durable names. They were sturdy and both had substance. Nighthawk, well, it sounds like if you touch it it'll break. As jiffy said, it doesn't sound right for a Space Construction Rig. I'm sure the only reason it doesn't suit at the moment is because we're all picturing the original Nomad, so the design could still work with the name, but I reckon it's simply the wrong direction for it. Thinking broadly I could see myself getting used to it, but I still don't think the name works too well at all.

    Poll!

Nomad > Vulkan > Nighthawk. This almost sounds like a Pokemon evolution listing to me. In fact, As I was playing one of the latest builds released, I happened to catch a nomad/vulkan/nighthawk in action:

    Coincidence? Maybe.

Why doesn't Blizzard go about opening up a poll on the Blizzard forums with a list of cool names like Terran Vanguard and what not. Let the public decide a cool name for the nomad/vulkan/nighthawk.

I would suggest that Blizzard should concentrate much more on completing the games than paying guys to think about new, stupid names all their days at the office.

Or at least to shut the TV they might watch most of the time off.

I think it's hard for us to decide for a name without seeing the actual unit. This being said with the model that Jon made us I think Vulcan is more cut for the job. Depends if the new model they told us about (see first post) is the same as the Jon Model or an entirely new one.

Vulkan for the sentries. If not then Vulkan for the unit.

I'm not quite sure what they're thinking with this new name. There's nothing night-y or hawk-y or stealthy, or fast about this unit... as far as we know. But then again, I disagree on like, half the Terran units' names, so who am I kidding?

Let's cross our fingers on new abilities that justify the change.

Blizzard seems to be failing at the name game.
